[Day 237] Relationship Issues Group Therapy mingle
[The relationships group therapy attendees will all get a message telling them to report to The Winery in Sector 2. Sadly for them the alcohol is locked away, but there is an assortment of food and non-alcoholic beverages along the bar for consumption. Many of the tables have been cleared out and the chairs rearranged into a circle with booths along the edges for more intimate therapeutic discussions.

And don't forget the party favors! The wardens have left some helpful games and activity ideas to get them started. There's a bowl full of folded slips of papers with various questions.]

How many people have you slept with? Do you regret any of them? Why?

How many relationships have you been in? Why do you think that is?

What was your longest relationship? Most serious? Shortest? Most casual?

Why did your last relationship end?

What do you look for in another person?

Are you happy?

Who is your ideal mate?

What was the biggest problem/complication in your previous or current relationship?

What do you need out of a relationship? Sexual experience?

How long have you been single between relationships? Why do you think it was so long/short?

What is the best way to break up with someone?

Do you believe in soul mates? Do you think you have or will meet yours?

Would you rather spend your life with one important person or several acquaintances? Why?

Are there any similarities between the people you've been with? If so, what are they?

Do you have trouble making choices? Give examples.

Do you think with your heart, your head, or your genitalia? Are you satisfied with this behavior?

Do you have trouble relating to people? If so, in what way?

[In addition to the questions there are cards with various prompts. One explains the game, I Never. Another suggests people pair off and roleplay they are in a relationship and then deal with various scenarios like what do to if one partner flirts with someone else or comes home late without calling.]

Who should do the dishes?

When is it appropriate to discuss getting blue bands/having sex?

When should you move in together if ever?

What do you do if you suspect the other is keeping secrets?

What do you say if your partner comes home with a haircut you don't like?

How do you respond if you find your partner crying?

How do you decide how to spend your time together?

Your partner's family doesn't like you. What do you do?

One of you is critically hurt. How does the other respond?

Your friends don't like the person you're with. What do you say to them? What do you say to your partner?

One of you wants sexual relations and the other does not. How do you balance your needs?

How do you communicate your desire for a particular sexual desire to your partner?

It is your partner's birthday. How do you prepare?

At a party your partner leaves you to socialize with others. How does this make you feel and how do you respond?

How do you show your affection?

(OOC: Mingle style. You are not limited to the questions, scenarios, or games listed above. Assume there are more! I recycled a lot of this from last time so if someone was in this group twice they can feel free to notice, but assume there are lots of questions and prompts, so they probably didn't see them all.)

So much yes. I don't think I know you, but I like you.

I'm Buffy.

Ianto Jones, nice to meet you. Would you like to talk about the weather or any other boring, non-relationship related items?

Nice to meet you, too. Absolutely. I'm kind of ready for fall. I like the whole sweater and boots wardrobe that goes with fall.

[ Oh she likes you, Ianto. ]

Likewise, although frankly I'm more likely to go with suits rather than sweaters. [Then again, he always goes with suits.]

[And he likes her, too. Anyone who appreciates good banter is someone he can get along with. Its not like he has any reason to avoid the relationship questions; he's actually in a very happy one right now, but he has always believed personal lives should be just that - personal.]

Suits are good though. Very...sexy in a responsible, business-y sort of way. Also, do they have summer and winter suits?

So my boss tells me. [A glance at Jack that is not as surreptitious as he thinks it is.] Usually I just add a coat when appropriate.

[ Buffy follows that glance, brow furrowing. ] At least there's employee appreciation? Or maybe sexual harassment depending on how you feel about that.

I'm sure I'll get around to filing a complaint about the matter some day. What about you? What do you do back home?

Right now? I...save the world, or try to fix really. More accurate. Since I broke it...yeah. Try to fix the world.

So what do you do with a suit and a pending complaint back home?

Oh. Well that sounds fairly important. I suppose I should wish you the best of luck with it.

Hunt aliens, actually.

Thanks? I'm pretty sure I'm going to need it.

[ Squinchy face and staring a moment. ]

Oh. Wow. I didn't know that was a suit kind of job. That's kind of...really cool though. In a bad B movie kind of way. Totally a fan of bad B movies by the way, so not an insult.

Do you often end up having to save the world, or is this a special occasion?

[The suits are totally impractical for the job, he just pretends otherwise.] To be fair I'm more of a secretary than anything else. And no insult taken, we've faced our share of giant radioactive creatures ready to trample cities.

Only about every...month or so? Sometimes we'll skip a month, maybe even two, but not very often.

[ She likes them regardless. ] Wow. That must be...is there a lot of paper work involved?

[His tone might be light, but he clearly not only believes her but is impressed by the answer.] Sounds like quite a busy schedule.

You'd be surprised. Plus giant, top secret sci-fi bases tend to get dirty quickly unless there's someone in charge of tidying up and getting everyone where they need to be on time.

[ She shrugs, making light of it but it is nice to have someone realize what an undertaking it was. ] It havocs my social life. The wrecking of it. You know the havoc...wrecking of...[ Frowny facing a moment. ] Social life. I have none. World saving sort of reason number whatever. Had. None. Social life. Now, I'm more having of one lately. With the boyfriend and all. Sorry. That whole thing just got away from me.

[ Her mouth does that sometimes. ]

That makes sense. We used to have a top secret, girl power castle. It needed constant housekeeping. Which I tended not to be in charge of. Maybe that was the problem. We needed an in-charge person. With a suit. [ Smiling. She's joking and teasing. ]

[Well that was a mouthful. He blinks, looking a bit stunned before recovering as gracefully as he can.] It is a bit easier to have a social life here, I'll admit. At home dates are usually interrupted by slime monsters or time travelers or alien sex gas or something equally horrible.

Top secret girl power castle? That's oddly specific.

[Sorry Ianto. You'll get used to it one day if you continue to talk to her. ] Hello! It's like you've been living in the British version of Sunnydale. Well, minus the alien sex gas and we don't usually get time travelers.

[ She shrugs] My friend and I made an army to defeat an army. The thing is one you make an army you have to support and train an army. You can't just say 'good job! Now go home, have some ice cream and live your life the way you used to. Oh. And the government was sort of searching for us then. So yeah. Top secret girl power castle.

Wales, actually. There's a rift in time and space running through the center of Cardiff, and strange things tend to slip through. I'm afraid I've never heard of Sunnydale though. Sorry.

Oh. Well I can imagine that would tend to complicate things. Did you win, at least?

Oh. That....sort of makes sense? The rift thing I mean. We had Hellmouth. Same sort...well, it sort of attracted all the weird instead of being a door for it. [ She shakes her head and smiles.] It's okay. It was a tiny town in California about an hour from LA.

[ She wrinkles her nose a little. ] Win is...relative? We saved the world. Created a lot of problems in the process. Had to save the world again later. Sort of what happens back home.

Really? I wonder how similar the two are. Or if things ever slip through from my world into yours.

I know the feeling. Its a vicious cycle, isn't it?

I don't really understand how the different dimensions work over all, but I know there are different dimensions in my world and things slip through all the time.

[ Nodding. ] Yes. A never ending one. I used to hope it'd just...stop, but now I guess I'm used to it. All of this stillness here makes me restless.

Mostly we deal with different planets and time periods, not as many alternate dimensions. The only one I know anything about was pretty similar to our world. It seems to be all over the place here, though.

I agree, except with the last part. Its nice here, actually being able to have a social life or not worry about dying every day.

Wow. That's really pretty cool. We've just got demon dimensions and occasional alternate realities. [ She nods in agreement ] This place seems to break all the rules.

Nice. Yes. Still...hard for me to get used to.
