[DAY 236] [Video|Action|Open]
[The voice cuts on to someone whose voice is fading in and out in volume, as if they are moving the microphone closer and further from them. The girl hasn’t seen something this advanced before, but it doesn’t take much to realize that it is transmitting her to somewhere.]

Oh how interesting. Is this like one of those radios I’ve heard speak of? I had never imagined they were this…small. Certainly something capable of wave communication would need to be much bigger to catch the right waves? How do you fit all of the wires into such a small package?

And what does “video” mean? [Obviously she is looking at the side of the communicator only to flick the button. Suddenly the screen is full of golden brown eyes and pale blonde hair. She pulls it back a bit more.] I’m not quite sure how I came to be here, but this place is full of curious things. It’s nothing like any prison I have heard of. Your country must be very wealthy to afford it. How does the shield around the prison stay intact? I haven’t seen a Mage since I woke—

--Oh, I’m sorry, that’s very rude of me! Good morning, my name is Toul. I hope I’m not bothering anyone, but I do have some questions that it would be very helpful to me if I could have them answered. Has anyone seen a pale girl with brown hair and eyes and a dark tattoo over her left eye?

[Toul has been wandering for hours, trying to figure out whether or not this is a truly creative dream, an illusion, or if she is truly stuck in a prison. It's nothing like one she's ever heard of herself. She manages to come by the clothings shops in Sector 4 and is searching for things close to what she's used to. The jumpsuit just isn't comfortable. Too restrictive. It would be easy enough to run into her as she walks and expect that she'll definitely greet and introduce herself to anyone she sees.]

It's not! But we aren't on "Gaia," either.

This is Marinanova Asylum, an interdimensional prison and rehabilitation facility.

Um. Jail, basically.

That welcoming warden message informed me of that, but how can we not be on Gaia and...not be in the afterlife? What plane are we on?

[A prison in the afterlife doesn't seem that impossible for her, but it being anywhere else just doesn't make much sense.]

The mortal plane, probably.

I believe the difficulty comes from the fact that we're on a different world, in an unknown universe. [Said as though it is the most easy and natural explanation of all.]

Oh my...[Unknown? That meant she couldn't just open a transport window and make her way out. Her ears droop just a bit.] That's quite the predicament indeed. But these crimes...some of them just aren't true. How could I be convicted of them without even getting a chance to prove my innocence?

I understand that feeling. My crimes list was incredibly silly and exaggerated.

But to answer your question, I believe they put us on trial before bringing us here, which isn't particularly fair.

But...I don't remember a trial. How could they have had one, if I wasn't there? Do they try us without bothering to even inform us? How very objectionable. It's against our rights to not even provide us the option to stand for our own defense.

And you sound so young! Do they jail youths here, too?

Youths? I suppose I never really paid much thought to it, until now.

It may complicate matters of my age and my understanding that I'm- likely not akin to any person you've met before, in terms of species. [It's as much a verbal shrug as an explanation.]

That's why I'm a bit ignorant on this matter. Is it not normal for young people who break laws to go to jail?

Oh! I do believe I understand what you mean...perhaps. [She thinks of what she knows of Reptilus humans and how slowly some of them age. They can be very long lived.]

I do not believe I could speak for every land on Gaia, but in adolescents are punished less severely for their misdeeds in Tusseri. We would rather they learn than to be so harsh on them that they lose the ability to reform. A Work House is the toughest punishment I can think of that one might get.

Is it different for you?

That makes quite a lot of sense, in fact! [It reminds her a bit of how Beforus trolls handle problems, though she doesn't exactly know everything in-depth about them.]

You could say that it's different, but a more direct answer is that I did not grow up within the bounds of any society. My brother and I are—were, rather—quite solitary.

[Gently and conversationally.]

Oh, no, nothing like that.

We were alone on our peaceful little desert planet.

...Alone? An entire planet all to yourselves? [That is amazing and dreadful at the same time.] How did you survive? I couldn't begin to contemplate being left somewhere like that with only one person. I hope you got along.

Eheh... [She hopes she can let her family drama situation slide between the cracks by awkwardly and barely acknowledging it before moving on.]

We had plenty of supplies left for us. Shelter, too! It likely helps that I very much liked the constant heat and sunshine.

That is certainly fortuitous, but I'm sorry you were both left there alone so long. One of the greatest gifts of life is the vast number of people you get to experience it with. I hope you've met many fascinating people since then.

Oh, I have! Everyone is fascinating in their own way. And I've made a lot of friends, too, so I can't help but feel very fortunate.

[Even though she may not be visible, she is very much smiling right now. It's rough knowing they can disappear due to the stabilizer, but even so, she's happy for the chance.]

It sounds like you also enjoy the company of others?

People are wonderful and very engaging, I couldn't help but enjoy them. [Being alone is something she quite dislikes.]

I haven't traveled very often, so I can't say I've met too many new people back home, so this is an experience, I'll most certainly take advantage of. I'll try to see all the sights I can as well. Is there anywhere in particular you enjoy the most?
