( day 235 ) open action.
[ the adjustments of the last few days haven't exactly put elena in a social mood. she's been out and about after transitioning, after that morning, and it's been through force of will.

get up, get dressed, get through the day until it doesn't hurt anymore. she told jeremy that, after jenna died. they've - she's - lived that over and over again. believes in it because it's the only thing that will (has to) get her through.

well. that and finding a way to control and satiate this sometimes overwhelming thirst.

run into her grocery shopping in the afternoon, browsing at the library, running and working out some at the athletic complex, or virtually anywhere else. ]

[ being around people and getting out... are two things elena has pushed herself to do the past few days. it's what she has to do. go out, live her... unlife, smile and talk and adjust somehow. it's day two of conceding maybe it's time to drink a little from human blood bags. day two of being told about the sire bond, which she's yet to mention to caroline.

although she's sure damon's relative absence might be of note.

(what's more of note is how not okay or fine she is with any of this; yet like everything else, it is what it is and it has to be dealt with.

she can't give up hope. hope in herself, in figuring a way out, a way through -

only this time it's not from the prison.)

she shows up at the blood shack sometime in the afternoon lugging a few bags full of puppy treats and toys. ] Hey. [ she spots caroline over by the bar and walks over. ] I brought a few things. [ she places them on the surface. ]

[ caroline hasn't brought the puppy home to stay yet even though she did ask to have it. she wants to give everyone a bit more time to adjust to their new situation. plus elena hasn't been... okay, lately. and damon's absence actually annoys caroline even though she doesn't know it's intentional. in her mind, damon is running away when elena needs him most.

the coward.

still, when she sees elena come into the bar, she brightens, setting aside her notebook so she can circle the bar to greet her friend.] Hey-- aw really? Pepper is going to love it. [ the puppy already has a name, yep.] Our apartment is almost puppy proofed! Thanks, Elena. [ of course, caroline is trying to measure elena's tension level, to see how she's feeling.] How was shopping?

It went well. [ elena pulls her bag from her shoulder and sets in on a stool before pulling up on it. ] I picked up some groceries too. [ she's glad to see caroline brighten like that. despite everything, maybe this puppy will be a good thing. a good thing for caroline, even if it's just her peace of mind.

looking at caroline, she can't help but think it won't hurt herself either. ] How's work?

	[ caroline moves back behind the bar, grabbing two glasses of ice to fill with soda. it's a normal thing, pushing it towards elena with a smile.] What did you get? [ obviously. a ghost of a smile touches elena's lips and she raises her brow expectantly. this is the first she's heard of a next event. ] What's it gonna be this time? [ caroline nods a bit at what elena mentions food wise, smiling a little at the ice cream comment, leaning down to take a sip out of her drink's straw.

at elena's question, she straightens, working her jaw a little with thought.] Well, I'm kinda stuck between two themes. An old Hollywood/glamour party or something like a harem/Arabian nights kind of thing because how hot would we look in saris? [ but she sighs.] However that might be kinda offensive. So I thought maybe a blacklight party instead, that might be cool.
