( day 235 ) open action.
[ the adjustments of the last few days haven't exactly put elena in a social mood. she's been out and about after transitioning, after that morning, and it's been through force of will.

get up, get dressed, get through the day until it doesn't hurt anymore. she told jeremy that, after jenna died. they've - she's - lived that over and over again. believes in it because it's the only thing that will (has to) get her through.

well. that and finding a way to control and satiate this sometimes overwhelming thirst.

run into her grocery shopping in the afternoon, browsing at the library, running and working out some at the athletic complex, or virtually anywhere else. ]

[ not surprisingly, liz will run into her at the athletic complex, after her own workout. it might be a little strange to see the sheriff here, but liz has decided she needs something to do other than patrol every moment of every day. and besides that, keeping herself in shape might come in handy. so that's what she did today. she glances over at elena and gives a nod. ]

Elena. Good to see you again.

[ elena was punching a sandbag and realizing just how much she has to hold back. she likes it, after that first punch, the realization - the strength, the speed, the reflexes of her body, so new and yet so familiar.

(she likes the power, the realization that she -

well, death became her after escaping it, choosing it, all but goading it.)

and truthfully, she has plenty to work out.

some sand flows out of a sudden, small fissure in the bag under the force of her hand. she sucks in a needless breath, a film of sweat over her forehead, and see liz approaching. ]

Sheriff, hi. [ she swallows, moves back from the bag, to unfurl the tape on her fingers. ]

[ they've been helping each other, as much as they possibly can. she's yet to tell caroline about her recent knowledge about the sire bond, barely can sort it out in her own mind with her own feelings. she's barely said a word about how not things are going with damon (she doesn't have the will to approach that, or maybe just too much frustration and heartbreak or pointedly lack-thereof at the situation) and on what should be the larger note (and is) about how she's doing with being a vampire, although she gets the feeling caroline wonders. they smile and keep things light, get through everything with one part determination and one part cheeriness. this is what they do.

elena takes a swallow of water. wonders how much liz knows. ] I'm okay. How are you? With everything?

[ life never fails to surprise and challenge and often torment them, even when they aren't in mystic falls. liz has pretty much resigned herself to this after the last year and a half in that town. and now waking up in this prison with random trumped-up charges seems to be par for the course for anyone from their town. it's annoying to say the least... but at least it's consistent.

liz is just waiting for the other shoe to drop. at least she knows elena would turn if she ever returned home or gained "memories" here in the prison. that isn't a secret for her. ]

Settling in as well as can be expected. I decided there's only so much to do on patrol and since the Defense Force has everything in hand, I don't really have an office. [ she shrugs. ] So I came here for the day. Place looks nice and usable.
