( day 235 ) open action.
[ the adjustments of the last few days haven't exactly put elena in a social mood. she's been out and about after transitioning, after that morning, and it's been through force of will.

get up, get dressed, get through the day until it doesn't hurt anymore. she told jeremy that, after jenna died. they've - she's - lived that over and over again. believes in it because it's the only thing that will (has to) get her through.

well. that and finding a way to control and satiate this sometimes overwhelming thirst.

run into her grocery shopping in the afternoon, browsing at the library, running and working out some at the athletic complex, or virtually anywhere else. ]

[ Buffy is out grocery shopping as well, picking up a few things that are mostly snack type food. The Summers girls live on take-out and snack food. Dawn cooks occasionally, but half the time it's so experimental that neither of them really want to eat it. It's also, usually, dessert and loaded with sugar.

She catches sight of Elena in one of the aisles and heads over toward her because she hasn't seen Elena in a while. ]

Sometimes I wish they had more brand-name-y stuff. How are you?

[ it has been awhile. elena knew it would happen, obviously, people saying hi; she hasn't been out and about so much the last few days.

she's glad to see buffy, but the sight of her also reminds her of how much and how little she's changed. she smiles mirthlessly, makes a face and puts a can of raviolis on the shelves. ] That might be too much to ask of the wardens. [ she says it dryly. her eyes flit across buffy's face a split second. how is she, right. ] I'm good. Fine. How have you been?

	[ buffy doesn't know what's going on, she just knows that she hasn't seen elena in a while and wants to say hi. ] I don't know. I think Walmart would franchise out here if invited. [ she smiles when she says it. ] I'm good. Just...you know...day to day stuff. Things don't change much down here. [ elena knows that feeling, or knew it, always strained but the ever-present knowledge that this is not home and she's been separated from her brother for longer than she ever has been and there's nothing she can do about that.

things do change though; the past few days are proof enough of that. elena is momentarily quiet and somber following her smile at buffy's comment about franchising.

she guesses it's time for a subject change - ] How's Dawn?

if she knew, she wouldn't have mentioned change in the least. as it is, elena's mood is enough to make her tilt her head curiously.

subject change is all right though. it's not as if they need to linger on franchising and change. ]

She's--she's good, I think. She's got a boyfriend here, which is weird.

[ elena blinks are eyes a little wide, some suprise crossing her features - and also big-sister sympathy. she leans slightly on the handle of her cart. jeremy dating vicki was... well, it was vicki. and then anna... anna threatened to kill him and used her to save her mother, pearl.

hopefully dawn has better taste than her little brother. ] Wow. I mean, I have a little brother so - [ she can kind of get the feeling. ] Do you know the guy?

	[ Buffy is hoping Dawn does as well. It's nothing personal. She's hoping Dawn has better taste in men than she does as well. Although, Buffy thinks she kind of hit the jackpot with Sam. ] Sort of. She invited him over for dinner, but that was after the whole sex thing so it was a little awkward. (Reply to this) (Parent)
