Made him think of extreme aggressors, of 50 000 chess games, of expecting different outcomes in a game that would only end with check mate, but unlike a few years ago this is not a depressive thought. Hey, guys. I was wondering... there's quite a few of us here that know how to play chess. How would you feel about an impromptu tournament? Nothing fancy, just... I don't know, anyone who's interested could drop by the library and we'll set up a few games. Bring a board, if you got one.

I know they can't all control it, but I still feel like there needs to be some sort of... balance. That's a lot of power to have, even if you can control it. There's a lot to consider. I wouldn't want that responsibility.

The difference between an educated guess and the facts. Hey, I get it. I haven't always loved having people in my mind.

...They had it harder at home. The telepaths I mean. Apocalypse went after them. They were a threat I guess. So, they either worked for him—and not exactly willingly, or they died. Dying was probably the better option. There weren't many around.
