[ Although the other day was far from as traumatic as the last inmate influx, it left Reid a little pensive. Made him think of extreme aggressors, of 50 000 chess games, of expecting different outcomes in a game that would only end with check mate, but unlike a few years ago this is not a depressive thought. Instead, it makes him crave interaction and so he hits up the network. ]

Hey, guys. I was wondering... there's quite a few of us here that know how to play chess. How would you feel about an impromptu tournament? Nothing fancy, just... I don't know, anyone who's interested could drop by the library and we'll set up a few games. Bring a board, if you got one.

	Knowing him, he'd probably take it the wrong way. [ Little smile. ] It's nice to see this kind of change for once. 	I doubt it. I mean, I can't say for sure but it does seem like most of his behavior was environmental. The longer he stays away from the harmful situation he was in, the less he feels a need to act out. Still major problems with authority figures, but... I'm working on it. 	The initial event, yes... but the emotional and psychological effects can last for weeks, months... maybe even years, depending on the level of trauma. Not to mention positive reinforcement. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have managed as well as I did if you hadn't looked out for me. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)
