⟡ action ⟡
[Today's adventure is less of a fiesta and more of a siesta.]

[Namely, one thoroughly-exhausted Zatanna can be found at the Library. Pouring over texts as if she were in danger of failing MarinaNova 101. The journals are old. The writing in them mostly by hand. She has a notebook of her own off to one side, filled with scribbles and diagrams and anything else she could think of. Most of them magic, though there were a few other symbols drawn in there as well. Such as distinctive "R"s, and lightning bolts and other insignias of her friends. Her and home.]

[If one is fortunate enough to catch her before noon, she might even still be conscious. Either mindlessly doodling or browsing one of the shelves. Otherwise...any passer-bys will find the fourteen year old passed out over the texts.]

[Very, very deeply asleep. Even her sixth sense, the one that involuntarily went off whenever there was a noticeably heightened supernatural aura in the general vicinity, was taking some form of cat nap.]

[At the light tapping, however, she stirred. Not enough to fully bring her to consciousness, but enough to show some signs of life. A small murmur escaped her. Something about her father.]

...already ate...promise....

While I am certain that it is good you have already eaten, I sincerely doubt that continuing to sleep in this position will be comfortable for much longer.

[In otherwords, wake up, Zatanna.]

[...fine, fine...]

[A sharp inhalation, and the fourteen-year-old finally sits up. Her eyes are still partially closed, blinking the sleep from them as she stares up as if she's never seen another person before.]

...what?

You fell asleep on your work.

[He nodded towards the books.]

I did?

[She looks down.]

...oh. I guess I did. [A yawn escapes her, and she stretches her arms over her head. There is a small pop when she tilts her head to one side, cracking some of the stiffness out of her shoulders.] Sorry about that. I think.

Did you need one of the books?

Not immediately.

[He shook his head.]

And there is no need to apologize. I just thought that the library may not be the most appropriate place to sleep.

Have you been here long?

[Was this an all-nighter?]

That depends.

What day is it?

It is Day 232.

[Now he was even more curious. Just when did she come in and start working?]

[There's a long pause in which she looks upward, doing a few mental calculations in her head.]

...yeah, that sounds about right.

Just making sure.

Very well.

[Though, curiosity...]

When did you arrive here in the library and start working?

This time? Umm...yesterday evening. Ish. I'd brought dinner with me, I remember that much.

I see.

[Well, at least she had eaten.

But, 'this time' implied she'd done this before. Not that others hadn't. She was hardly the first and was unlikely to be the last.

Tieria nodded a little at the books.]

That is not a light subject. You should make sure to get rest or the information will not be properly retained.

[Not everyone had a memory like an Innovade, and even Tieria knew he had limits when not connected to Veda to use it as a sort of storage system for his brain.]

[She doesn't seem either surprised or phased by the advice.]

You obviously don't spend much time around high school students. Private schools, especially, are notorious for their bad study habits.

I have not, but that hardly is an excuse.

Why is that?

[He still didn't look convinced.]

Because it's the only way some of us were able to pass science class.

[This is clearly an optimal explanation.]

There are much more efficient approaches to studying that do not involve taxing your body quite so much.

[Or sleeping on the library books. At least she hadn't been drooling.]

But if you insist...

[He turned.]

I do. But thanks for caring.

[Believe it or not, she's actually being sincere.]
