[Yesterday, Number One had been lucky enough to keep her uniform; today, much to her dismay, she's in standard-issue first-day orange. She's also still here, which apparently isn't a universal thing for those who'd ended up in the prison. As such, this is not shaping up to be her best day. Still, her expression is schooled into careful neutrality.]

I am given to understand that every individual in this facility was brought here under circumstances similar to my own: unexpectedly, and without any chance to defend him- or herself against the charges for which we are allegedly being held captive. As such, logic dictates that I am not the only one dissatisfied with the situation.

[She shifts, slightly, the only visible manifestation of her irritation.]

If possible, I would like access to any information regarding appeals to the authorities responsible for our incarceration, or other attempts-- successful or not-- to leave this 'Asylum.'

[A beat, and she adds:]

I am First Lieutenant Robbins, executive officer, U.S.S. Enterprise, registry NCC-1701. I would appreciate the opportunity to speak with any Starfleet personnel remaining in this facility.

Thank you.

This is Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge of the -- [...Well. Of the Enterprise. It's not easy to know how the Prime Directive applies just now. They need to share information, but how much? Then again, it's not as though temporal anomalies are unknown to those who serve on the Enterprise.]

Of the Enterprise D. How can I help you, Lieutenant Robbins?

I believe I have already been advised on the most pertinent matters, Lieutenant Commander, but I am pleased to make your acquaintance.

Same here. And I have to say, it's nice to meet someone else from the original Enterprise crew. We've heard a lot about you all ever since the Academy. [Minor fanboy moment, pardon him.]

[She's not sure whether she should be pleased at that or faintly disturbed.

A little of both, maybe.

She doesn't show it. Besides, he said else.]

Have you met other shipmates of mine?

[He knows the feeling. Even if Data and the Captain weren't from his future, he's still been through his fair share of temporal anomalies.] Depending on the missions when you served, it's very possible. I had the pleasure of meeting Montgomery Scott not too long ago. Being the Chief Engineer myself, it was pretty amazing. [Even though he kind of... yelled at his idol a moment, there. But it all worked out in the end.]

My Enterprise is under the command of Captain Christopher Pike. I'm afraid I don't know a Montgomery Scott.

[Oh, she's even from before the Kirk era!] Captain Pike, really? [He can't help but smile; who'd have thought this place would let him meet such incredible people?] Wow. This is incredible! [But probably not the moment to go on about how one of their shuttlecraft is named for Pike.]

So, if I remember my history correctly, that would make you from... 2252? Or thereabouts.

2254.

[But nothing named after her, eh? Ain't that always the way.]

[Captains always get the glory, it's true.] I know we have bigger priorities, but if there's ever time I'd love to hear about it. I mean, the things you all did back then are a huge part of why everyone wants to serve on the Enterprise. [Geordi tends to get a smidge tactless when faced with real live people he read about at the Academy, unfortunately.]

I rather suspect your history books have more detail than I could provide, about some missions.

[That's what happens when Pike makes you stay on the bridge all the time, sigh.]

Technical details, sure. But there's a lot that never gets into the official mission logs. A lot of my favorite memories are things that happened in Ten Forward or on the holodeck -- that's some newer technology we have that lets us use holographic images for recreation.

Anyway, I guess the reminiscing should wait. I'm not even really settled in yet, myself. Is there anything you need? [The fanboy just wants to be helpful!]

Per Captain Picard's advice I expect I will be lodging in your shared apartment, or nearby if there isn't sufficient room. I am given to understand all other necessary items can be found at the businesses within the dome?

Yeah? That sounds great, and I'm sure we'll make room. Starfleet officers should stick together in a place like this if we ever want to get back to our respective timelines.

You've heard right that almost all our needs are taken care of -- although we have to cook for ourselves since there's no replicators. I can't say I've cooked much in my life, so it's been interesting. [Growing up on starships and then going right into the Academy meant never really knowing what the whole "home cooking" thing is, at least not for more than a few patches of his life here and there.]

It seems like the logical arrangement.

I'm given to understand the Wardens here would appreciate that-- building new skills is part of their program of rehabilitation, is it not?

It's something like that. But considering that they charged me with things that aren't even crimes and were part of my duties with Starfleet, I don't think learning to make couscous is going to cover it. Even if my mom would be pretty proud.

[C'mon, that joke was awful. Crack a smile!]

[Oh, Geordi, it's easier to make Spock smile.]

Although I agree on principle, I think it may prove convenient to court the authorities' good graces.

No arguments here. I doubt we're going to get far on goodwill, though. We're dealing with programmed responses that have already condemned us here for eternity. It's worth a try, but Data and I are working on a few other things.

I'm sure you'll hear all about them once we get a chance to really talk. [And assuming he can stop fanboying long enough... which he will! For the greater good! But, well, downtime is for socializing...]

I do concur; I'm more concerned with avoiding limitations on our actions as we strive to find a more permanent solution. Entrusting our fates to their clearly biased judgment hardly seems productive.

I look forward to hearing everything you've learned.
