Day 231 : 4th Wall : Open Video/Open Action MINGLE
[Video : Open]

Hello, everyone! I wasn't expecting so many new people so soon! I'm not sure we'll have welcome baskets ready for everyone. [Partially because Euphie has been here long enough to suspect that if this is like any of the other times the wardens will "fix the glitch."] But I do hope you all have a safe and happy time today.

Everything here is free, so if you need clothes or food just go to any store or restaurant and you should be able to find what you need. Tonight when you want to sleep there are three different apartments with plenty of open rooms. You're welcome to take any open one for yourselves. Oh! And be very careful to stay out of Sector 6. It's dangerous. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Ah, and Cornelia, if you're out there it would be very nice to see you.

[Mingle : Open]
[Are you in MarinaNova? Of course you are! So this mingle is for you. It's currently happening anywhere and everywhere. So, step up, plop your character down and be sure to mention where they might be found on this day of broken walls.]

(OOC: Tag Euphie: Video or Mingle. My notifs are turned off so tagging anywhere else just puts you on the mingle to play with anyone looking at this post!)

[Throughout the course of the day, Number One can be found, well, nearly anywhere. She's intent on gathering information, but that's a fairly broad task-- so she's not just checking for records in the library, but chatting with the locals to try and get a sense of the place, to learn what they've learned about their mysterious, absent captors. She gravitates by and large to the areas where people are, though she doesn't always approach them; looking and listening are more her style.

(She is, however, admittedly human; at some point in the afternoon she sits down to eat, lingering over the meal until she's fairly sure it's safe and then making short work of it. She may find a bench somewhere and people-watch when her feet tire.)

She's been lucky enough to survive the trip undersea with her clothes intact, so anyone familiar with Federation history is welcome to recognize the uniform, though the lady is perhaps a mystery.]

[How do you feel about men appearing out of thin air in a burst of light as you sit on your bench? Yeah, yeah, okay, but he didn't use a transporter beam! So there.]

What a horribly unfashionable uniform. How embarrassing for you. I prefer this one myself. [He's got his red and black jammies imitation uniform on.]

[She doesn't feel great about it, but if you were hoping for her to jump you're out of luck. Her eyes widen and she does pull back a bit, but she's seen worse. I mean, if you're not abducting her and locking her in a prison you're not the worst she's had today.]

I've never had any trouble with it, [she says evenly. Not in a friendly fashion, though.] And for the record, I didn't design it.

Well, I suppose the melted neck look is popular in some worlds. So, what have you been doing with your time if you weren't busy designing your uniform? [He'll just step up a bit closer. He is so perfectly comfortable you see.]

[She won't step away. She's startled, not frightened, and damned if she won't stand her ground. Now, if he keeps creeping nearer, they might have a problem.]

Your interest in uniforms doesn't allow you to infer?

Oh, some terribly important mission of exploration I'm sure. Find any interesting rocks lately?

[She doesn't have to know what or who you are to knee you in the omniscient groin if you keep trying to physically intimidate her. She's a lady, but she's not that much of a lady.]

You're mistaken. Were I an exogeologist, I'd be in blue.

Pity, I'm sure at least that would be somewhat interesting.

[ kathryn stops, doubletakes. that's a starfleet uniform alright; one that hasn't been used in well over a century. federation history isn't her strong point, especially not with the ship's database at her disposal, so it takes her a moment to discern rank. unfortunately, she can't put a name to the face. ]

Excuse me -- Lieutenant?

[She turns at that, not surprised (after all, the entire point of a uniform is to allow easy identification and address), but a but concerned that there seem to be so many from her own rightful world here. There's a wild variety among the inmates, but a disturbing number of Starfleet personnel.

If she stays, she thinks, she's going to need a primer on what she's missed, temporal prime directive be damned. Or at least a guide to who's who.]

Yes-- can I help you?

[She takes the other woman's hand with a nod, distinctly pleased though habitually disinclined to show it. Number One intends to have a ship of her own, someday-- she doesn't hope, because hope implies a degree of uncertainty, a measure of doubt she refuses to allow. But it's nice to have the confirmation that not every ship has a glass ceiling.

Figuratively, since literally... Well. Visibility and all, it makes a certain amoung of sense.]

It's a pleasure, Captain, [she says, earnest if not overly emotional] Morgan Robbins, executive officer of the Enterprise. I met your young assistant earlier.

[ Data does not recognize who she is specifically on sight, but it goes without saying that he recognizes the uniform and its time period.

Despite how far out of his time she is, approaching her hardly seems to be of major concern under the circumstances. He isn't about to detail the century and change of Federation history ahead of her, anyway. ]

Lieutenant.

[ With a small, courteous nod. He is not wearing his own uniform today - it seems best to avoid addressing as many complications with his own temporally scattered crewmates as possible. ]

[Under the circumstances, Number One suspects it would be difficult to outdo the harm caused by the mysterious Wardens-- surely their abductors are to blame for violating the sanctity of the timeline. Still, she can appreciate the desire to maintain a certain degree of practical silence on the specifics.

She gives him a quick look-- civilian clothes, though his greeting suggests a Starfleet background; not a familiar race, but in and of itself that isn't shocking.

Lacking an appropriate sense of how to greet him, she nods in return-- polite, simple, more than a little curious.]

[ The wardens have made the temporal prime directive all but null and void. The only thing of real concern, after all their meddling, is divulging the details of their own timeline.

So he introduces himself - knowing that he's displayed knowledge of Starfleet and is lacking his own uniform. ]

My name is Lieutenant Commander Data. [ A slight pause - ] I am a Starfleet officer in what would be considered your future.

I am familiar with a number of the reports from the period during which he was in command of the Enterprise. That would place your chronological point as being somewhere between 111 to 122 years prior to my own. May I inquire as to your current date?

Mid-2254.

[She's not sure whether she ought to be impressed or concerned that he's familiar with her tenure; a hundred years down the road, that suggests either something very good or very bad.]

As far as I've been able to discern, no other members of my crew are present.

Nor have I encountered any other Starfleet personnel from either your ship or your chronological point.

[ A beat, and a slight tilt of his head - ]

My latest chronological point was 2373 - temporal discrepancies are common among the Starfleet personnel present; however, yours appears to be the most significant that we have yet observed. There are two other officers present from my ship's crew who were both here prior to today's arrivals - our captain and our chief engineer. Our first officer has arrived today and, if implications are accurate, may not remain. In addition, there is one individual from another Federation vessel from the same approximate time period who was present prior to today's arrivals, and two members of her crew have been reported present today.

[See, Data, you are her sort of officer. Efficient, informative, rational. This is useful. Robbins is well pleased, which she will... Not show at all, really, except for a nod of acknowledgment and thanks. ]

What evidence is there to suggest that today's arrivals may not stay?
