[ the walk back to the apartment was the longest of her life. she never felt worse about anything she'd done. it's confusing to feel such incredible guilt when the source of it was something that made her so happy. and by the time she's back at the apartment, she's full on crying, tyler's words echoing in her ears, the look of hurt on his face behind her eyelids each time she closed her eyes.

she slips inside the apartment and closes the door behind her, moving to lean against the door and cover her face, sliding down to the floor as she just cries, softly, as she struggles to breathe right. and she hopes that no one's home to find her like this.]

[ elena's home - simply completing tasks around the apartment. (tyler's here; the sheriff is here. she wants to see them both but knows caroline has her time with them first. she needs that.) she's folding some clothes when she hears the door shut and then waits for the inevitable hello from bonnie or caroline.

it doesn't come, but she does hear something that sounds like crying. she puts down the clothes and walks slowly out into the hall. she knows it's crying now, and she knows it's caroline.

she's not sure what it could be - her mom or tyler or -

is it stefan? some combination of? did caroline tell - ?

she pulls in a breath when she finds her by the door, feels pangs of worry and pain. ] Caroline?

	[ her hopes are dashed when she hears footsteps and then sees elena approaching her. she doesn't bother trying to hide the fact she's crying, she does, however, try to stand up, sniffling as she does.] I...
