day 228 | video;
[ when liz turns on the feed, she is as calm as she can possibly be. with everything else that's been happening lately, she honestly didn't expect to be thrown into prison, especially when that prison was one she was unfamiliar with and buried deep under an ocean. she's not entirely sure how she feels about that.

either way, her expression is one of determination and she's ignoring the prison garb. that can come later. ]

My name is Sheriff Liz Forbes. [ because she definitely doesn't go by her full name and these people need to know that an actual law enforcement officer is present among them, not whatever these wardens claim to enforce. ] I've spent enough time listening and watching to know the basics. What I'd like now are more details. If anyone has information they'd like to offer... I would appreciate it. I can't offer much in return, but I'm sure we can come to some kind of agreement.

[ with firmly pursed lips, she turns the feed off and waits to see if anyone will bite. ]

[ Guess what Damon wished for Christmas? Looks like someone was on Santa's nice list. ]

About time, Liz. [ Not that he thought she deserved time in prison, but this place tends to attract people from Mystic Falls so it's expected that she'd arrive here sooner or later. ]

Tell me where you're at and I'll come pick you up. Bring you a change of clothes, give you the grand tour... [ Drop her off at the girl's apartment... But first -- the mom!napping. Sorry but not sorry, barbie. ]

she's been walking around a bit, so by the time she answers, she's by the library in sector 2. ]

Damon. [ she's between being relieved to see him and uncertain. damon's presence means stefan's here, too, and either of them could have trouble on their heels. ]

By the library, though I'm not so sure you bringing me a change of clothes is a good thing. [ she trusts you, damon. sort of. just not with clothes. come on. ]

Oh, I promise it'll be something decent. [ He gives her a wink as he gets up off the couch. ] I'm on my way. Don't go anywhere and don't freak out if you see anything that's not human. [ And with that helpful --not so helpful-- little tidbit, he shuts the communicator to do that vampire super speed thing.

It's a good fifteen minutes later before he arrives at the library. He's brought with him a bag filled with essential items that any lady currently dressed in prison garb would need: a pretty work dress in white (totally below the knees and be glad it's not red, Liz), undies in just the right size (no need to ask how he could have guessed that), flat shoes, perfume, deodorant and a brush. ]

There you are. [ He smiles and hands her the bag. ] Come on. Let's get you changed and we'll head over to Merlotte's. You must be starving. [ He points her to the nearest restroom. ] Take your time. [ So not giving her a chance to check out the contents of the bag right now while he's standing in front of her. She can make all the complaints later. ]

[ he doesn't give her a chance to respond, so she huffs and turns off her communicator. well it could be worse as far as people going to get her. she could be running into klaus. her life. her life.

when he finally reaches her, she's inside and folded her arms over her chest as she waits. the bag gets a slight lift of her eyebrows, but she doesn't comment immediately, taking it from him as he turns her towards the restroom. the clothes are appreciated, but she's really just having trouble wrapping her mind around this place in general. ]

Since when are you concerned about whether or not I've eaten?

[ okay, so... it's nice that he's at least showing concern, but seriously, damon, what are you up to?

it's also a good thing he's waiting outside or the look she would have given him when she sees the outfit would have... made him laugh more. liz resists the urge to facepalm, ignoring the question of how in the world he knows her size in anything, and finally gets dressed. the orange jumpsuit is stuffed back in the bag once she's done and she steps out, looking uncomfortable in the dress. why couldn't it have been pants? first thing she's going to do once she's free is buy pants and a decent shirt. ]

At least tell me you know more than I do about what's going on.

[ knowing she probably doesn't have much of a choice, she begrudgingly lets damon guide her off. better he takes her... somewhere than she wanders around and gets herself lost. ]

Well, don't you look pretty? [ He points at the dress he'd picked for her. ] You should dress up more often. [ Seriously, Liz. What's wrong with dressing up like a lady every once in a while? You're divorced, not ancient. He nods his head in the direction of Sector 4 where Merlotte's is at. ]

I figured we could both use a drink. You're off duty for the rest of forever and we have plenty to talk about. Might as well do it in a comfortable setting.

B-t-w, your daughter's here. Don't worry. She's fine. She lives with Elena and Bonnie. They're safe. [ Or as safe as anyone can be in a dome under the sea. ] I'll bring you to her as soon as we have our little chat. [ She's probably got a lot of questions and he wants to know whether she's from some time ahead of him or some time before or hey -- maybe she knows just as much as he does about Mystic Falls thingies and that's just fine with him. ]

[ she gives him a look. really damon?

and don't even go into the status of her nonexistent relationship. let's just not even go there. she follows him a few moments after he starts walking, a look still plastered to her face. she's confused by everything. the people, the world. damon, her head hurts. ]

I'm beginning to think most of Mystic Falls is here. How long have you been here? How long has anyone been here?

[ why is she asking damon to help her sort out things? though the questions of timelines will be even more confusing. ]

[ Don't worry, Liz. There's only a limited amount of niceties that can come out of this guy's mouth. ]

Pretty much. You missed Klaus and his brother, Kol. But the crazy She-Devil's here. [ a.k.a Rebekah who's been attempting to have a "normal" life in prison and has been behaving herself. ] I've been here for a little over two and half months now. Basically been stuck here the longest out of all Mystic Falls-ties. [ He has such a way with words. ]

Elena was the second to arrive. Then came your daughter. And then the rest... Prisneyland's getting crowded.

There's something else you should know. [ Wow. No. Not the bit about him breaking his daughter's arm for no good reason. Something else. Something that will probably give Liz here more of a headache. ]

Can't say I'm sorry about that. [ but rebekah being here is slightly worrisome. one more person to keep an eye on but at least she's being good. liz will take that. ]

I feel like I should be more surprised than I am. [ headache. growing. she hates it when he says she needs to know something else. that never ends well. ]

What is it? And don't tell me we have an over-population of vampires. Please. [ let her live in denial for a while. ]

[ No can do. Always better to find out now than later. ] Pfft. We have an over-population of everything here. Vampires, alien types, bots, giant insects, weird animal monster thingies of all sizes -- but as for us Mystic Falls types, we're still vampires pretending to be human so there's that. [ And since they're walking out of the entrance of Sector 3 and heading into Sector 4, he takes a moment to point towards Sector 5. ]

There's a vampire bar in Sector Five. It's chock full of blood. But get this -- blood bags are also available at the local grocery store. [ Talk about a vampire friendly place, huh? is what the look on his face says. ]

But that's not what I wanted to talk about. [ He glances over at Liz to make sure that's she's still with him. ] Liz, if you're worried about your safety, don't be. You'd have a higher chance of getting injured via tripping over your own two feet than getting attacked by a vampire in this place. It's why I brought you a pair of flats.

At least one thing is normal. [ in a sea of unfamiliar things, even the smallest familiar thing, however awful it would be normally, is welcome. and hey, at least these vampires are nice and her daughter is one of them. ]

Oh god. [ a vampire bar. a vampire bar. and blood bags at the grocery store. what is her life? ]

Remember that night Alaric got into that bad accident because he was hit by a car driven by an asshole of a hybrid and he was sent to the hospital? [ Despite wearing the ring, Alaric had been in terrible condition; he wasn't healing properly and had to be fed vampire blood much to his chagrin. ]

Yes. That was... a while ago.

[ weeks, months even? god some days she couldn't even keep track of the hours. everything seemed to happen all at once in mystic falls. ]

[ Somehow he just knew that Liz was from sometime ahead of him. Maybe there's a part of him that's disappointed about that because it's getting harder to hang onto what he wants to believe is the truth; and that is what he knows. Not what everyone else knows about the so called future. ]

It wasn't for me.

It's the last thing I remember of good ol' home. [ That and compelling Jeremy to leave town. He opens the door to Merlotte's and motions for her to head inside. They can pick a table by the corner where it's quiet and where they can talk some more about everything ever. ]

[ she pauses again to watch him. it isn't for long, but she has to know, has to see... she'd like to think she knows damon well enough to read him. when he... wants to have his feelings read, anyway. and he's giving her all the signs she knows of that he's telling the truth.

[ today? yesterday? her point being he couldn't have been here since then, he was at home in her town a day or so ago. her head is reeling again. ]

Timeline differences. Alternate dimensions. Who knows. [ It boggles his mind really. ] People get taken from different time periods and end up here. Sometimes people get info dumped with information from the "future". I'm not sure what that feels like or how it works, but your daughter would know.

I don't know how far ahead you are, but if you think Alaric's dead and Elena's a vampire, then you'll be right at home with the rest of everyone else here. [ Noticed how he said the rest of everyone else? He's clearly not one of them. Forever in denial, okay? Just leave him be. ]

The dimensional stabilizer is the thing that brings us here. Supposedly. It also traps us here for the rest of our lives. There's no going back. There's no escaping this place. There's only believing in whatever is fed to us from time to time via the info memory dump thingy and then waking up here believing in everything that you "experienced". There's also the occasional people who disappear and get trapped in the stabilizer and are never heard from again. Like Klaus, Kol and Katherine.

[ He doesn't mention Alaric and Jenna. Damon reaches for the menu and hands one to her. ]

The burgers are to die for. [ Clearly he doesn't want to hear about how Alaric's really dead and blah blah blah. Not interested. ]

[ ohgod there goes that headache again. she just sits down and places her head in her hands for a moment. ]

Who's told you... about the future? And what else did they tell you?

[ because alaric is dead and elena's been a vampire for a while. it's a good thing liz doesn't know about jeremy or elena's humanity switch getting flipped or she'd have even more to say about all of this. ]

I'm assuming she's still human here. [ at least that's what she's taking out of all of this, what everyone's told her and what damon's insinuating here. ]

Let's hope those three don't come back. [ please. please please please say they won't. she does not need them. no one does. ]

Then let's do a burger. [ because really, her head hurts too much to care about food at the moment. ]

[ He'll give her a moment to take in all of that yucky information while he orders their food. Luckily for Liz, this place is run by Sam and not by bots. If they had gone to his usual coffee place, she'd see plenty of bots tending the counter. ]

Elena did. After she heard it from Stefan. [ He had been in solitary at the time and when he got back, somehow his baby brother and Klaus was there. This place has a way of giving people the best surprises. And by best, he means the worst in the case of Klaus' appearance. ]

You're the last person I thought they'd ever be able to throw in here. What did they get you for? [ He's gonna want to know every detail of her misdemeanors. ]

[ which means that stefan is either from liz's time or beyond it. either way, she sighs again and tries to recall the long list of stupid trumped-up charges she'd heard when she first arrived. ]

A lot of little things like endangering the public safety, concealing evidence, and misuse of authority. [ please. like those actually counted when you were the authority. ] But also things like trespassing, torture [ she doesn't remember that one. ]... murder. [ she does remember that one. jeremy's "death" will always weight on her. ]

[ Right. That night he was all delusional and in pain and Liz being Liz had tried to shoot him dead. Elena's kid brother had been at the wrong place at the wrong time and it had been an unfortunate accident. ]

Mm. Bedroom torture, Liz? [ Damon knows well enough what she was really in for, but he'll never tell. What's the point of bringing up the past when it's so icky? ]

[ the only good thing that had come of that incident was liz's unconditional acceptance of the supernatural... and the vampires who walked her town. as for the other? it was icky and better left forgotten, as caroline had compelled her to forget it all.

liz shoots damon a look at that. ] I don't know how they come up with half of these. It's like they go down a list and say, "That sounds good!"
