[Voice// Video | Open!]
[The feed begins as voice, a man’s concerned but controlled voice making an official-sounding request:] Enterprise, come in. This Lieutenant Commander Geo--

[A brief moment of silence as the feed switches to video, and it becomes obvious why Geordi is having trouble working the device. His eyes, without iris or pupil, clearly mark him as blind.] Any Federation vessel? [A pause.] Computer? Computer, respond.

[He sighs, but doesn’t look surprised. A slight scoff, as if he’s somehow amused while also being irritated.] Figures. How do I switch frequencies on this thing? They could’ve at least left me with my combadge. But alright, let’s try... [He fiddles with the comm buttons and the feed swaps back to voice.]

Hello? Does anyone copy? I could use a little help here, and I’m getting used to the idea of not being picky.

((OOC: Action open to anyone who wants to find a blind man meandering around the beach!))

[ he snorted ]

Just so they can do it again? There's more then one facility you know.

[ or, well... maybe he doesn't. Opps? ]

No, I didn't know. But I guess I'm not surprised. A place like this, it seems like part of something bigger.

What are the other ones like?

[ he shivered, thinking of that dreadful, dreary place, but he's careful to keep it (mostly) out of his voice ]

There wasn't much to recommend it. The wardens didn't seem to care for pampering it's prisoners.

[ the exact opposite. He had those bruises from the enforced exercise for three days after! And you can rest assured, he's been rededicating a part of his daily life to preventing that from happening again. No more excuses! ]

Well, then I guess we're lucky we're here instead...

I'm guessing my your tone that it's better here, anyway. Sorry, I can't really see what there is to see.

[ he's giving Geordi a wane smile but his voice stays firm when he replies. ]

We have freedom here to pursue our own interests. The previous facility preferred to keep a tighter leash on the inmates. Food, for instance, was in much shorter supply.

[ and of course there was the mandatory activities. ]

Yeah, that doesn't exactly sound like a vacation.

At least if we have some freedom here it's not like there's no hope of escape, right?

[ which, of course, was the entire point. ]

Yes, although the greater freedom unfortunately means that attempts to escape are a low priority on many of the inmates minds. The conditions here are much more favorable to many of them then previous.

[ he paused ]

It's a bit of a sore point to some of us, actually.

[ although for good reason. Some of them wanted to escape, and many more wished to stay. When one was returning to certain death, it had an impact on one's decision making capabilities. ]

Not on my mind. Granted I just got here, but I wouldn't be a Starfleet officer if I let things like that go. It's not right, what they're doing.

And I'm guessing you're the same way.

[ he's practically brimming with relief ]

Of course I am. No man should be used against his will!

[ gosh, that's like asking if the Noah should take over the world. The answer is an obvious no! ]

Exactly. But I think I'd better take care of a few things before any action is taken. Like getting my sight back and figuring out a little more about this place.
