[Voice// Video | Open!]
[The feed begins as voice, a man’s concerned but controlled voice making an official-sounding request:] Enterprise, come in. This Lieutenant Commander Geo--

[A brief moment of silence as the feed switches to video, and it becomes obvious why Geordi is having trouble working the device. His eyes, without iris or pupil, clearly mark him as blind.] Any Federation vessel? [A pause.] Computer? Computer, respond.

[He sighs, but doesn’t look surprised. A slight scoff, as if he’s somehow amused while also being irritated.] Figures. How do I switch frequencies on this thing? They could’ve at least left me with my combadge. But alright, let’s try... [He fiddles with the comm buttons and the feed swaps back to voice.]

Hello? Does anyone copy? I could use a little help here, and I’m getting used to the idea of not being picky.

((OOC: Action open to anyone who wants to find a blind man meandering around the beach!))

[ the smile on her face is easy to hear and that might be the smallest note of fondness in her tone. ]

You're quite fortunate. I've had the pleasure of speaking with them on multiple occasions. Captain Picard seems to be a good person and Data as well. If one of them is coming to find you, you'll be in good hands.

[ so she won't worry too much. ]

They've had the dubious pleasure of being in this facility longer than I have.

Thanks, and you're right. We are fortunate. Best crew in Starfleet, and the best ship. [Even if he's apparently stuck in prison and blind, he's still a member of the Enterprise crew and darn proud of it.]

Yeah, Data told me a little about their time here so far. How long does it take to get used to things? It seems pretty... different.

Someday I'll have to ask your captain a little more about that. [ they've both been a little slow on trusting each other with too many details, but at the same time, captain picard has rapidly become someone helen actually legitimately trusts, and that's saying something coming from her. ]

I suppose that depends on how well you can acclimate to the situation. For me, it took a few days and a sense of routine and even then... I don't believe I will truly be used to it for quite some time.

You should. He's got some great stories. [Some of which Geordi could tell, but he's sure the Captain would make a better showing of it.]

I gotcha. It's a lot to take in, but I was sort of hoping that if you can see it's a little less overwhelming.

I'll be certain of it. If you speak with him before that, give him my regards. [ she's far too fond of him for her own good. one of these days becoming attached to people again is going to come back to bite her. ]

Perhaps so. If you've need of anything while you're here, I'm a doctor. I'll see what I can do.

Will do, Doctor. And hey, I'll hope I never have to take you up on that, but if I do I'll be thankful for the help. And most doctors find my VISOR implants pretty fascinating.

Of course.

[ she pauses for a moment, considering whether or not to ask. she's curious, in a medical and scientific way. ]

I'm assuming those implants help your sight?

That's right. It's cybernetics connected directly to my visual cortex that allow me to interpret images from the entire electromegnetic spectrum. Of course, without the VISOR to present the images to my brain, I'm still blind. [Hence his current predicament.]

Of course. If you'd like, I can look into creating a new one. It might not be exactly the same -- I'm more than certain the future holds drastic medical advancements -- but I am certainly willing to do what I can.

[ but only if he's willing. she won't do anything that would make him uncomfortable. ]

Hey, I'm not about to turn that down if I need it. Data tells me that I might be able to ask the Wardens for it though, save you some trouble. But if that doesn't work, I'm all yours.

Of course. I am more than happy to if necessary. Let me know if you need my attempts. Until then, I wish you luck.

Thanks, Doc. I'm sure I'll be in touch, one way or the other.
