When I said I wanted to get out of Mystic Falls for a while, this wasn't exactly what I had in mind. Ruins of some ancient prison in Italy or China, maybe, but not underwater and in some alien dimension, or however the hell that's supposed to work. [ if he's getting the gist of this right. he's going by video game logic here. ]

And what happened to a trial by a jury of your peers? Is that not a thing on Planet X? Too human a concept for you? Is throwing eighteen-year-olds in prison for skipping a couple of classes back in high school [ and eradicating an entire vampire bloodline via staking finn mikaelson, but shhhh ] just something you do for fun around here?

[ just when things had calmed down and the world was returning to normal (or as normal as the world was capable of getting after everything that happened back home), this happens. it's just his luck, too. nothing ever stayed good for matt donovan. his life sucked, and it looks like graduating from high school meant it was only going to get suckier from here on out. ]

So much for the world tour.

[ not dead. matt glances down at his hand, giving her a good view of the ring on his finger — silver, set with a dark black stone. it could easily pass as a graduation ring, but it's so much more than that. and he's thankful he still has it. not so much for the fact that it'll bring him back to life if anything supernatural manages to kill him while he's here, but because this isn't really his. damon might've given it to him, but he likes to think he's just holding on to it for elena. just like he's keeping an eye on the mansion for tyler.

...which he can't really do while trapped in an alien prison. "sorry your house got robbed, ty. i was in prison at the time." yeah, that would go well. ]

You make it sound like some sort of weekend resort.

It does seem kind of like that once you get past the trapped here part. Which is hard to get past, but occasionally it happens.

[But honestly, this place has its perks. She and Buffy have spent more time together here than they ever did back home. She has a lot more of her sister's attention. Never mind that Spike and Xander don't care as much about her here as they did back home. She's trying to ignore that last bit, actually.] There might even be people here that you know. My sister's here... and a few other people from home.

	Not yet. Not even teleportation spells work down here. I think anyone with the actual power to get out gets muted in some way -- I mean their power gets muted, not that they become mute. I know, lots to take in. Weird pocket dimension in the form of an underwater prison. Exploding brains and stuff -- exploding with information, I mean. Not literally exploding, not that I've seen so far anyway.
