[ It's the first annual monthly bi-weekly — it's the first Memorial Garden Committee meeting! The invitations have been sent, a couple of park benches in Sector 0 have been claimed and there's even a few plates of home-made cookies put out in case the allure of fast food on a stick wasn't enough. How can you resist? That's right, you can't!

The instigator to all this is pretty nervous but once the clock strikes noon he clears his throat and kicks off the meeting the only way he can. ]

Alright, so… some of all y'all might remember me talkin' 'bout puttin' together a Memorial Garden for all our friends who've disappeared a while back. Now, I know we already got some o' that stuff 'round here but this would be somethin' we'd create all on our own. We'd decide what t' plant in it an' tend to it an' pool our rehab points together to get seeds an' plants or whatever else we need.

There ain't no pressure to help out. We do what we can, alright? What we're good at. I'm happy to help anyone who don't know how t' grow things an' wants to learn, but th' important part is that we all get a chance to have a say in this. This is where this comes in. Just write down your ideas an' we'll gather it all up an' make sure everyone gets somethin' they want.

[ He gestures to a SUGGESTION BOX set out with a stack of paper and some pens for all your suggestive needs. ]

Alright... that's all I had t' say. You go on an' talk amongst yourselves an' have fun!

(ooc: Mingle! Socialize to your hearts content, whether you got an invitation to the meeting or not. Notifs are off but Aidan has a thread HERE if you want to hit him up specifically! Feel free to let your character leave serious ideas for the memorial garden (or just troll the hell out of it) in the suggestion box HERE ! ))

[Miranda couldn't miss such a meeting. She may have had a memorial garden already for friends she had lost at home, but this one would be just as important. She asked Bak to come with her because they had both recently lost more friends. Maybe it would be good for them to do something proactive about it. Strangely, she doesn't feel as shy being here. These were people who had gone through something just as she had. She feels...somber about the subject, but hopeful.

If you come up to her she'll greet you politely, but really, she's trying to think of anything useful that she could contribute to the conversation.]

Are we going to use specific flowers for each person or is this a more general garden?

[Hi there, Miranda. Does this group seem a lot like the welcoming committee? It just might.] Each person in the memorial or each person working?

Each person in the memorial...[But as she thinks about it more the flaw of that idea becomes apparent.] But since we don't know everyone who might be gone, I guess that would be hard to do.

Yes, I think general would be better in this case, but it was a nice thought. [If she knew even a single name on her list or the exact count. Maybe it was better she didn't.]

[It wasn't thought through very well, she would admit. But this still could have a bit more of a personal touch.] You're right. But maybe since we are the ones putting the garden together, maybe each of us picking a flower that means remembrance to us would not be such a bad idea? Our worlds could all have difference experiences with what flowers mean.

Is there something special you want to use, Miranda?

[Miranda blushes just a bit.] I-I'm not sure it's really special--and I was truly just thinking maybe there was something special to each of us that we could use. If I could I would use the sea lavender. It's not really that decorative on its own...[She smiles sheepishly.] It looks much better when combined with more colorful flowers.

That's a nice idea. I've always liked daises.

[Miranda claps her hands together.] Daisies are beautiful! And they look very bright, yet peaceful. They would be a good flower to use. So would petunias, maybe.

[She smiles, feeling pleased that Miranda likes them too.] I like petunias! [She's quick to chime in!]

[It's always nice to have someone who agrees with you this much. Miranda is a bit heady with it.]

We could maybe come up with a list and a planting layout for all of them, if everyone else gives us ideas for what flowers they like.

That's a good idea. You should tell Aidan.

I will! [Said with a determined nod.] Thank you for helping me get the details a little less...vague in my head.

Of course. I'm not sure I did much, but I'm glad it helped. I should probably check on a few things, but I hope to talk to you again soon.
