[ elena merely nods, accepts sookie's thanks, knows sookie needed to offer it. she's come to understand and acknowledge that prejudice, through her own experiences and through hearing about it from sookie and jess - and eric, in his own way. there's no question or doubts about the way she treated jess; she wouldn't have treated anyone, human or not, differently. ]

How are you doing? [ it's not just about jess. ]

[ which is one of the things sookie likes best about elena; she treats everyone the same, no matter what they are. to sookie, elena's the kind of person who places blame on the individual, not the species—and really, that's the same for everyone, right? not all vampires were bloodthirsty monsters, just because a couple of them liked to play up to hollywood's expectations. just like not all humans were killers, just because one of them decided to go off a bunch of waitresses. ]

I'm... I'm better. To tell you the truth, I think I'm finally startin' to come to terms with all this. [ being here, people coming and going, letting herself get as close to eric as she is. ]
