[Zelgadis didn't need to wait for dark, or to try calling, or to ask those bastards at the kiosk to know she was gone. The moment Saber vanished he just felt it, the connection he'd only barely noticed all these months dissolving as quick and bitter as salt in water. Removing his glove to find the command seals gone felt stupid really, the sort of sentimental formality someone like him shouldn't bother with, but of course he did it anyway.]

[Now he's sitting under a tree in the park, a full pack flopped carelessly beside him, his hood down for once to showcase his stone skin -- maybe waiting for the snide comment of a passerby to spark him into a fight, who knows. It had taken him longer to pack his belongings than he'd assumed; that'll teach him to accumulate junk. In the end he taken the essentials and left the rest as it lay, Saber's things untouched as if for a museum.]

[So that's that. Done, over. It was always just a matter of time.]

[That was the easy conclusion. Harder is what to do with himself now, without the search for a cure and without anything to fight against and without anyone he ever bothered to care about.]

[At least it's good weather. Sleeping outdoors won't be a problem.]

Marshmallows burn easy, anyway. Really messy stuff.

Oh. [It doesn't flood her with relief, it doesn't spark much of a reply from her at all at first. The fact she might've expected relief has her rub her neck, giving it a stretch before slumping her shoulders.

So Saber's gone, huh.] I'm sorry to hear that... [Genuine; the first response she can honestly put forward is sadness for his behalf.]

[He waves off her sympathy, because talking about it with her is just awkward.] You'd think I'd be used to it after Lina, Allen, Yomi...

You'd have liked her. Yomi, I mean. [Obviously the situation with Saber is what it was, and not very comfortable. Yomi was never like that though, and if she were here a lot of their mess probably would never have happened.]

[Chew chews her lip for a second, listening to him and wondering who these people were. Obviously they meant something to him, were friends. And she knows how hard it is to get close enough to people to consider them such, so their loss must really wear on him.]

Any friend of yours would've been a friend of mine. [They'd have to be the best people, after all.]

He's a good guy. But I can see why not a lot of people like what he can do when they know he can do it.

I don't know. [She answers honestly.]

If Hank's idea's idea for a cure was skin deep, maybe. But I know I wouldn't want a cure for my abilities all-together. [She wouldn't want to lose that part of herself.]

[He nods, hesitates, but then decides to push forward and be honest anyway. No matter what it might mean.]

If I get cured, I'd probably lose a lot of my magic abilities. I've thought about that, if I could protect myself or anyone else if I get cured. Would it be worth it.

[It takes him a second to nod, somewhat shocked that she said she's understand. That last conversation about this led him to believe otherwise.]

Maybe I'd feel differently if this was done to me for reasons other than a careless experiment. But as things are, it's like a wrong I have to correct. [He has to. It's just never been a question.]
