Oh. Come on! What type of a connection is this?

[She fumbles for a moment with the device, until she is sure that it is working.]

Hello? This is Special Agent Prentiss with the BAU. I would like to formally request any additiona; information concerning… MarinaNova, was it? Unfortunately, I am unfamiliar with any such name and would welcome any intelligence that anyone could provide.

Also… The one in charge of this place? If I could be sent in their direction, I would appreciate it. Or even if someone can point me in the direction of someone who would be able to provide this knowledge.

[A pause.]

Uh, hey guys? Any of you happen to hear this? Not that I can dial out... I can’t be the only one waking up from this crazy dream…

That's not exactly what I meant.

[That left one other option.]

So a mystery book, then. [A metaphorical way of describing the situation. He could get that.]

Oh, a bit of sci-fi too, I think. Cross genre.

[That got a small amused sound in response.]

Things like this aren't very fictional in my world, but I could see how they would be for others.

... this would be considered normal every day stuff where you come from?

Some of it. We are capable of airtight self-sustaining ecosystems. And we have advanced computing and communications technology.

And underwater prisons...?

No. But it is not something too far-fetched. Instead, though, we have moved into outerspace rather than underwater.

Moved? [As space exploration is something that Emily is familiar with, but they hadn't moved.]

Yes. There are those who work in outerspace now. It has not become a full-fledged way of life just yet, as most people go for several months or even years to work before returning to Earth. But it is becoming easier to have longer stays, and more and more people are going in that direction.

[No full on space colonies with extensive residential areas, but definitely industrial and some retail.]

At first. It has become something we are used to now. We are striving to go further, making the option of living in outerspace a feasible and permanent one for those who wish to.

Is it necessity or just desire?

[There were all those reports about how the Earth would be like in the future, if they didn't take the steps to take care of it today.]

A bit of both. Population growth combined with the desire to learn and explore. It is simply the next stage of humanity's development.

As they say, the final frontier.

I have heard that phrase used.

Are people capable of space travel where or when you are from?

People have set foot on the moon, but if you mean for extended periods? No. They tend to sent out unmanned machines to the planets close by to learn things.

I see. That sounds close to the late twentieth to early twenty-first centuries.

I am from the twenty-fourth. [Said flatly. Maybe he was attempting to provide perspective on why he would say that?]

What is the BAU?
