There’s a growl coming from that dark alley over there, a snarl from the shadow of that tree, a scratching of claws against pavement and gravel. Behind you? In front of you? Left? Right? A large hulking shadow is there just out of the corner of your eye and then gone. A game of predator and prey has begun without anyone’s permission.

The wolf won over Oz’s control today. In wolf form, Oz is still bipedal but also able to creep around like a quadruped. He’s covered in black fur with coal black eyes, sharp teeth and claws that can deal heavy and deadly damage. Depending on the time of day in which you catch him, Oz might still be fighting the transformation and able to (somewhat) understand what’s happening around him. The later it gets in the day, the more wolf he will be. By the end of the night, he’ll end up in sector six with the rest of the animals.

ooc: Please let me know in an added ooc note on your thread or through my plurk how much damage it’s okay to deal to your character. It’s okay to damage the wolf too, but he will deal back what he’s given and run if he gets too injured like any wild animal would.

[By this point, Oz has almost completely taken a backseat to the wolf. The control he's worked so hard for is non-existent given the days events, his normally tightly reigned in emotions completely out of wack. When she slows down, the wolf slows down too, keeping to the shadows but slowly and strategically closing the gap.]

[Something definitely isn't right. Korra's lived with hunters, trained with warriors -- she's developed a sense for when she's being watched.]

Who's out there? Show yourself!

[Unfortunately, "discretion" is something she still needs to learn. She prefers to get straight to the point, rather than find the source of her discomfort before acting.]

[The wolf is all animal, preferring strategy in hunting his prey rather than jumping out and getting right to the point. And while Oz inside the wolf understands her words and is trying so hard to will the wolf to go in another direction, find something else to do, not to hurt Korra, the wolf has little understanding of words, only of tone and demeanor.

He grows still and quiet in the shadows, braced down on his haunches and ready to leap out should the beast decide its called for. But also, from those shadows, comes a low growl, barely audible unless Korra is listening very closely.

[That ripple does knock it out. A large ball of fur, teeth and claws is not snarling angrily and running toward her at full speed. The beast is officially angry and in attack mode. And Oz inside is completely silent, having lost even the ability to send thoughts to the monster.]

[There is plenty more fire where that came from. Korra calls up another ball of flame in her hand and eyes the creature warily. It's not acting like any wild animal she's ever seen. It should be running away in search of easier prey.

She sends another few fireballs its way to hopefully drive it off.]

[This is officially a game. The wolf pounces around, dodging fireballs in almost a playful manner. That is, it would be playful if he weren't baring his teeth and inching closer and closer to her. His snout rises into the air and he lets out a loud, high-pitched howl before charging again. This timehe gets his front paws around a leg and an arm, dragging her closer to him over the terrain. His claws sink into the skin there too and angry red welts rise over her skin through the torn fabric as the wolf snarls, leaning in and prepared to sink his teeth in if he gets that far. Rogue isn't doing well today. She's found herself a mess of tears off and on, upset that Peter's left and insecure beyond what she normally struggles with. She's got her cloak on with the hood pulled up. Her hair is down and her gloves go all the way past her elbows. She's attempting to hide as much as possible while she runs to the store to pick up more baking supplies.

When she catches sight of something that can only be described as a creature, her insecurity and depression give way to curiosity. She stops, turns and tries to catch a better glimpse of it. She knows that creature, at least she's fairly certain she does.

"Oz?"

She really hopes it's not him. She doesn't want him to have to go through the guilt that seems to come from his transformations. She also doesn't want him to do anything he'll regret. She hopes that the creature is just an escapee from Sector 6.

Rogue has seen the wolf before. She's felt what the wolf truly feels inside of Oz, all the rage and want for destruction, carnal desire and pure animal tendencies. Oz is still barely conscious with the wolf. He can scream and rage and fight for control all he wants inside the beast, but he knows from experience that when his emotions are this messed up, there's no winning against the monster inside.

The wolf had been stalking her for a few minutes, and for Oz it was like watching a movie that he was a part of and yet unable to stop. When she stops, he wants to scream at her 'no, don't stop! run!' and yet he can't. At the sound of Oz's name, the beast slips out of the shadows, a low growl rumbling in his chest, coal black eyes narrowing on his prey.

Having felt the wolf before, knowing what goes on inside the wolf and how it feels is what makes her take a step back.

"All right, Sugar. We just gotta get you somewhere safe." She's talking calmly, lowly, the way you are supposed to speak to a scared animal, except that she knows the wolf isn't scared. It still seems the best option if she wants to help Oz.

"It's gonna be okay." Her right hand automatically goes to her left bicep, gloved fingers slipping under the top of the glove to push it down.

Under normal circumstances, he might have been able to control the wolf to an extent. But for some unknown reason, today is not a normal day. Something is happening that's forced Oz's emotions into a spiral that does nothing to help control anything, let alone a feral monster hellbent on tasting blood.

The wolf's nostrils flare, a scent that Oz inside the wolf knows well, but a scent that the wolf wants to bathe in because with it comes blood and guts and muscle he can sink his teeth into. The wolf feels no fear right now as it hunches down and begins to creep toward her.

Rogue's mind goes blank. She knows there's a protocol for something like this. She probably saw it on some program at Xavier's. They had satellite and a good deal of free time. However, she can't remember what that protocol is right now.

She's not supposed to run, right? It makes her look more like prey. Or something like that. She takes a couple of steps backwards, a means of putting some distance between her and the wolf without turning tail and running.

"Oz, I know you can hear me, Sugar. You don't wanna do this."

She's trying to peel her glove off faster but her fingers keep slipping. The fact that she's broken into a terrified sweat doesn't help her get the glove off any faster.

She gets just a moment of reprieve here. At her voice, the wolf pauses, head tilting to the side as if it's listening, as if it might understand the words she's saying. Oz's consciousness inside takes a breath of relief. 'That's right. Go to your cage. Go to sector six. Don't hurt her. Don't hurt her. She's a friend. Don't hurt her.' Deep down, he knows that he isn't helping at all. Normally it might help. But not today, he can feel it.

That slip of her glove, just a bare patch of skin has the wolf smelling even more of her. The sound of her heartbeat floods his ears. He can even hear the blood gushing through her veins. His ears twitch, listening to the call.

The hesitation, that reprieve, is enough that Rogue relaxes a hair. She believes, for that moment, that Oz is in there and that she can help him. Her heart is hammering a hundred miles an hour as she takes a step closer.

"That's right. We're gonna head back to your place and I'm gonna get you somewhere safe. I'll sit with you if you want."

Inside the wolf, Oz is far too emotional for a statement like that. It reminds him of those first years as a wolf when he'd had no control. A time when he was still figuring it all out and Willow would sit with him outside of his cage reading to the wolf. It's been forever since someone accepted him, wolf and all. Even Bay was about ignoring that the wolf was there.

That flicker of emotion gave the wolf more leeway. Now the beast is closing in on all fours. There's a flash of teeth, tongue flicking out in anticipation of fresh, raw meat.

Rogue has a lot of experience accepting people as they are. She honestly just considers Oz's wolf a bit like a mutation. He's not, in her opinion, that different from Logan when he got angry. Sure, Logan had more self control when he got angry, but he was still scary and still Logan. Oz is scary and not in control, but he's still Oz underneath the teeth and claws.

Rogue's fear took over and she starts backpedaling. Another step and she starts turn to run away, even if deep inside she knows she doesn't have any hope of running away from the wolf.

The wolf is happy to give chase. It's really a shame, because the the only answer is to run, but then the animal inside finds fleeing prey exhilarating. He runs after her, pouncing and rolling with her as claws sink into her skin at her shoulder, at her side and sliding into her waist through the cotton material of her clothing.

The scent of blood is strong. Nostrils flare and the wolf rolls away off of her in a flurry of dark fur and sharp, blood soaked claws, lowering down on his haunches and slowly creeping back toward her.

Rogue goes down when he pounces on her, a strangled scream catching in her throat. Pain is something that Rogue is acquainted with. She thought her bones were going to come apart when Magneto hooked her up to that machine. This pain isn't quite that overwhelming, but it's sharp and it's scary and it comes with the knowledge that she could die here. With Magento, there was always the assurance that Logan and the others would come for her. There was only the question of if they would be fast enough. Here, there is no such assurance. Here, Rogue is going to have to save herself.

The weight of the wolf and the shock of the pain, the slickness of the blood all work against her. She is trying to calm herself enough that her heart doesn't burst out of her chest. She's got to calm down enough that her sobs and her screams don't take her over as they're threatening to do. She only has to be able to reach her hands. For the first time since she was sixteen, she's cursing the fact that she's got on gloves. She knows her time is limited. She can feel herself weakening already. The wolf's claws rip and his teeth tear. It seems like there's blood everywhere and it's taking forever (not to mention an incredible amount of control) to stop fighting and just work on getting her glove off.

She only knows her hand is bare by the feeling of all that blood--slick and warm and hers--covering her skin. She reaches up and grabs the wolf's ear, hanging on as tightly as possible. She can feel her power taking over. She feels warmer, stronger and more alive than she had a second ago, which means the wolf is probably starting to feel the affects as well through his bloodlust.

With that contact at his ear, the wolf feels the drain. Normally, this might be enough to tame the wolf or even to make the beast revert back into human form, releasing Oz from his cage inside. But today isn't a normal day. Something in the dome is affecting both Oz and the wolf in ways that are not at all normal.

So even while the wolf can feel that drain, his claws lash out and get her across her stomach again, and once against her arm. His teeth snap at her until finally the animal realizes that something is wrong. As agitated as the wolf is, this meat sack is doing something to him, something that's making him lose his natural aggression.

The wolf whimpers and bounces back, easily pulling away and landing low on his haunches. For a moment, it shakes its mane and tries to decide whether or not to continue his assault. Then he's off, running for sector six where the prey might be easier to catch and snack on.

For her part, Rogue uses the benefit of the extra strength and rush of adrenaline and life she drained from the wolf to push herself to her feet. She keeps one arm across her stomach in an attempt (useless) to staunch the blood. She's in rough shape and she knows it. Her first priority is getting to the hospital.

Martha was out returning movies. Due dates here seemed unusually short, but then their wardens probably figured everyone just read or watched right away and had nothing better to do but return their materials.

She didn't feel like fighting with them. She was gearing up for whatever would happen with Jack once he decided to feel jealous about her and Ianto. If he ever felt jealous about it.

It was right around then that she realized something was wrong with her surroundings. Someone, or something was near her, and it didn't sound right. She's looking for what it is, and though she's curious, Martha has very strong survival instincts and is working on calmly making it to the library at the same time.

[OOC: Open to chase and minor to moderate injuries.]

Oz has had a very, very bad day. The emotions he normally keeps such a tight reign on were set free without warning and romping about in his mind. All control was lost as he fought helplessly to pull it all back in and squash it down deep inside. And unfortunately, those negative emotions are what feeds the wolf now that he has control over the monster inside over the affects of a full moon. The lunar cycle no longer mattered to him or the methods he taught to other wolves back home. Emotions were what mattered. And right now those emotions were running rampant.

The wolf has been tailing Martha for awhile, skirting this way and that to almost herd her in this way or that while keeping a small distance behind her. It's a game, one that the wolf is already deep into unbeknownst to the one the beast is stalking. Will she run? Won't she run? While Oz inside is trying to make the wolf stop toying with his prey, the wolf is really hoping she'll run.

Whatever it is, it's behind her. She's nervous. And she doesn't have a perception filter to help her. She's wearing trainers, so she can run if she needs to. A DVD is not going to help her. Her eyes flit here and there for a person or a weapon. The library is straight ahead and around the corner. She'll make it. She's Martha Jones.

Just to be safe though, she picks up a wayward stick that hasn't been picked up yet apparently and quickens her pace. Not running. Martha doesn't want to. But her imagination is in full gear and she needs something to feel secure.

Not running? The wolf comes up with another game to play then. Large paws pad around her, circling in a wide berth and staying far enough away to not be seen, only heard as he circles around to the front. It's then that the massive beast steps out of the shadows, on all fours, teeth snarling as a low growl rumbles through his chest. Is he inching forward? Probably so.

The footsteps make her nervous. More than she already is. And then, there it is. A giant dog/wolf/thing. Martha runs through everything she knows about dogs. Don't run right? Right that's what she's supposed to do? They chase if you run. But this thing is coming towards her anyway. She things. Martha tries to look at it's chest rather than it's eyes. She thinks there was something about looking a dog in the eyes.

A stick. She has a stick. "Good dog," she says as soothingly as she can muster. "Do you want to play fetch? See? Here look! Go get it!" And stupidly, she flings her stick away hoping he'll chase after it so she can get to a building.

The beast's eyes follow the stick but then come right back to her. Hers is the heartbeat reverberating in his ears. Hers is the blood gushing through her veins, singing a song of the siren to a monster that would like nothing more than to come ashore to drink of. Hers is the scent that he wants to sink his teeth into.

He snarls, nostrils flaring as his pursuit of her swings into full gear. What had been playful stalking is now a full fledged attack in the form of a massive werewolf running at her.

It took less than a second for Martha to take off. Running is something she's good at. Running from things trying to kill her? Even better. Only there's no Doctor here to help her and she's trying to remember where she put that phone thing.

She took off at a 90 degree angle, hoping direction change would slow the creature down. She had to get somewhere safe. And none of the buildings currently around her looked as though they'd be any help. The library. Had to get to the library.

That loud galloping sound? That's the wolf hot on her trail running swiftly on all fours to get at her. He easily moves with the direction change, even closing in a bit more. One big leap and he's knocking her down to the ground, claws scratching through her top into her back diagonally from shoulder to side.

He isn't immediately on her though. The scent of blood welling up from the scratches in her back makes his nostrils flare. From a couple of feet behind her, he rises up on his hind legs and howls his pleasure at the scent, at his catch. Celebrating before she's completely down for the count probably isn't the best decision.

She falls with a cry and lands hard, gasping as the claws tear into her back, ripping her shirt to ribbons. She's already rolling over as best she can to kick, claw, bite, whatever. The DVD she was returning is gone, dropped somewhere as she took to her feet.

And then the wolf creature is off her. On his hind legs and howling. Too far away to attack, but at enough of a distance she can now get up and run. Which she does... aiming for the bowling alley right ahead.

It takes the wolf a moment to realize he's losing his dinner. But when he does, the beast is after her again, tromping behind her as if the very Earth moved beneath him as each massive paw landed and sprung away with each step. One arm reaches out just outside of the bowling alley, grabbing at her shoulder but not hard enough to hold on. His claws, however, leave more shredded material and angry bleeding claw marks from her shoulder down to her wrist before he looses hold on her completely again.

Martha cries out again at the claws in her flesh and kicks behind her hoping to catch him enough for him to pause. And then the door is open and she's knocking a trash can over behind her. If she can find the utility door, get behind the lanes. All five of them. And hopefully there's a door to the back.

She slows just long enough to lob two six-pound balls at the creature before turning and sprinting for the next door.

Thanks to that knocked over trash can, the wolf only gets halfway through the bowling alley door before in swings closed. He has to decide whether to try to squeeze forward or backward. And since that trashcan just inside is blocking his way forward, the easiest plan is to back the rest of the way back outside. The wolf may have four paws, but in this form, he doesn't work doors very well. Martha was smart to get inside.

Once he's wiggled his way back out, he stalks back and forth outside on the steps to the bowling alley for a few brief moments before turning away to find something new to hunt.

The crash of bowling balls knocking into the trash can unaccompanied by any animal sounds alerts Martha to the fact that the creature had not followed her inside. She slows and turns her head, only to see it turn away.

Wary of trickery, Martha grabs another bowling ball and stays in the alley, listening in case it comes in a different door.

She's good at staying still, good at hiding, and excellent at listening. After waiting long enough for the chances of a second attack to decrease, she finally drops the bowling ball and begins hurrying home. As fast as her bleeding self can run.
