DAY 207 (nightish) → open video + private messages.
[ welcome to elena's room. it's filled with things. and boxes. some things are in some boxes. she's thought twice about making this video, and then thought twice about making it public (klaus) but on her second thought, she decided to stop hiding in the network.

for the most part.

she's sitting cross-legged on her bed, mister teddy junior in her lap. ] It's kind of amazing how much stuff can accumulate here after a month. [ wait. ] More than. [ she puts him in the box. ] Books, clothes... [ her eyes look out to the space of her thoughts for a only a split second ] people, memories.

I know a lot of us are all working to find a way home. [ her included. maybe. ] I guess I was wondering why any of you would want to stay.

I think we should keep our conversations private for now. Even if it's just something silly. It's not a good idea for you to have Klaus' attention. Even if Rebekah's already told him... [ she swallows. it may be a desperate, scared attempt to protect her... but elena's willing to be that, do that. being a witch might attract klaus' attention too, without her help, but... the thing that gives her more pause at the moment is jeremy, jenna - how she kept things from them to keep them safe, and it hurt them in the end. (she lost jenna entirely.) so. ] Is that okay?

[She smiles and slips in quietly, shutting the door behind her. It isn't as if she thinks Elena doesn't want her around, but at the same time it's...complicated. She knows she's failed her somehow, and it's impossible not to worry that Elena might be...afraid of her or something. Sure, she's apparently been around vampires for...god knew how long. But she was the new one, the one that might fly off the handle, the unpredictable one. Right?

After all, Elena keeps making this odd look every time she sees her.

She moves to another pile of clothes, sits down beside it, and starts to fold them.]

It seems weird, doing something like this in prison.

[ it's awe. worry. dread and selfishness. jenna's a vampire, and elena's happy. she's devastated. jenna's alive, and it's not something elena deserves, but it's something she'll take.

(she was the one who failed jenna.)

elena watches as she sits; just watching her move and hearing her talk... having the chance to talk to her about packing. having the chance to fold clothes with her, of all the inane life tasks. (this is what their life was, could have been. the little things) she catches herself and looks down at the cami was folding. ] You kind of get used to it. [ the answer gives elena pause - because it's kind of true. so, joke: ] Not sure that's a good thing.

[They might even have a chance to go for a walk, sit at a restaurant, play a board game, go shopping. All that normal stuff that they should have done while they had the chance. Before, well...]

It's like Big Brother without having to worry about the ratings. [Because, really, it wasn't so bad. Like what a normal life could be like except for the fact that they were being watched.] It could always be worse.

[Folding, folding, folding. Pause. Jenna sees to be looking at something in her hands, and she lifts it up. It's a thong, hanging precariously from one finger. It also seems to have...mechanical parts.

Have an eyebrow raise, Elena. Because seriously?]

[ she smiles at that, makes a soft sound of amusement. sobers some. ] It could be worse. [ they could both be dead. jenna, entirely. her, a vampire. she's slow to start folding again.

and she'd maybe say more in this folding pause - about life, about this, about being able to do those normal things and what all these complications mean - but.

ohmygod. watch elena lean over to snatch that away lightning quick. ] That's private. [ wait that doesn't help. ] A joke. A private joke. [ nailed it. :| ]

[It's both terrible and true. Compared to the things were quickly spiraling out of control back home just two days ago...this is almost normal.

Or it would be if not for all the...vampire things. Like the constant desire for blood. That was kind of a downer.

She reminds herself, again, the yes, it really could be worse.]

And clearly it was meant to stay private. [But sorry, Elena. Too late for that.] Between you and who, exactly? I didn't think Stefan was the type for...[She gestures.]...that kind of thing.

[ it's a good question, one she hadn't imagined to hear from jenna, ever. normalcy aside... wait, this is normal, isn't it? (just barely, considering.) talking to jenna about these things.

she pulls in a breath and holds it, bristles a bit at jenna's sound deduction about stefan. then. ] Damon gave them to me. [ because that's normal, right? it kind of is. she tosses them in the box next to her. la la la. ]

[ she sees jenna's unsure look and raises her a blank one in return. goes back to folding. she's not surprised, check. a little grossed out, check. why she kept them? it takes a moment to form the words. ] We were... [ not together. she's concentrating on folding. ] Whatever we were. [ with damon. ] Not anymore. [ it's only then she chances a look up at jenna.

she's not ashamed. it's just what is. jenna should know. ]

Right.

[She understands that feeling all too well, has put herself in that situation before. Jenna is probably the last person in the world that should be giving anyone dating or guy advice, given her pretty horrendous track record.]

There are a lot of things I could live with you picking up from me, but my taste in guys isn't one of them.

[She's not angry, or disappointed though. She just doesn't want Elena to have to deal with that. The screwing around and screwing up; being at the receiving end of that was painful and tiring.]

	Because I can barely be around him without wanting to...you know. [Eat him, basically.] It's like...everything's all mixed up in my head. [Because if she's around him, then she wants to kiss him, which makes her want to bite him. And it freaks her out.
