[ welcome to elena's room. it's filled with things. and boxes. some things are in some boxes. she's thought twice about making this video, and then thought twice about making it public (klaus) but on her second thought, she decided to stop hiding in the network.

for the most part.

she's sitting cross-legged on her bed, mister teddy junior in her lap. ] It's kind of amazing how much stuff can accumulate here after a month. [ wait. ] More than. [ she puts him in the box. ] Books, clothes... [ her eyes look out to the space of her thoughts for a only a split second ] people, memories.

I know a lot of us are all working to find a way home. [ her included. maybe. ] I guess I was wondering why any of you would want to stay.

I think we should keep our conversations private for now. Even if it's just something silly. It's not a good idea for you to have Klaus' attention. Even if Rebekah's already told him... [ she swallows. it may be a desperate, scared attempt to protect her... but elena's willing to be that, do that. being a witch might attract klaus' attention too, without her help, but... the thing that gives her more pause at the moment is jeremy, jenna - how she kept things from them to keep them safe, and it hurt them in the end. (she lost jenna entirely.) so. ] Is that okay?

Oh, you'd be surprised at the sheer awfulness of some of the worlds people here come from. With that in mind, I'm sure our lovely luxury resort doesn't seem too bad.

[Was he supposed to share his own perspective? Nah. Despite the hour Puck is outside somewhere, apparently hanging upside-down from a tree branch or something of the sort judging by the way his hair falls down around him.]

I have been curious about that myself, actually. [Her question - or more accurately what would make my property want to stay? He can make an educated guess or two.] By my count all we are missing is young Jeremy and those dead parents of yours.

[Not that what she wants matters. This is a cage, there's absolutely nothing here for him. No army, surrounded by enemies, and waiting for a certain shoe to finally drop. Probably in the form of another sibling.

But it's always best to stay on the same page about these things. The more family of hers that arrive, the weaker she'll be.]

[ his reply doesn't surprise her. it makes her sick to see it, hear it; it angers her too to hear him mention jeremy and her parents. she can't even wish or fathom that, her parents being here. him mentioning it doesn't help her keep her lack of hope on the lacking side.

[Jenna has nothing to pack, and it's not much of a surprise that she's restless. She's been adjusting to the changes going on within her as best she can, and while everyone seems to believe in her, she's still so unsure about everything.

Still, the last thing she wants to do right now is worry people. As if they don't have enough to worry about. She's supposed to be strong, especially now, when she's part of the problem.

She knocks on Elena's door quietly before she pushes it open slightly, peeking in through the small opening she makes.]

Do you want some help?

[Even if she doesn't actually need it, it'll keep her mind busy.]

[ she's not the only one adjusting. elena's aware of everything jenna must be going through as a new vampire, as a new person here, locked up and away from home... (dead. no future to go back to.) as much as she can.

elena doesn't know what else to do but find a new place to live and pack. it's the right thing to do, isn't it? the only thing. (create a home, a safe place. if not safe, then theirs.)

she looks up at the knock. it takes a second for her to see jenna, realize she's here, catch her breath. (it's happened often the past few days.) she smiles. ] Sure. Come in.

[ she's on her bed, folding some clothes to put away. ]

[ He got Elena's message about Jenna on the night her aunt arrived. He thought about getting back to her then, but he really didn't know what to say. Besides, things have been pretty strained between them since the morning of Day 204, and he's pretty sure she wouldn't appreciate his snarky commentary about newbie vamps. (Also, insisting that Jenna should get on that diet of human blood bags and avoid Stefan's Bambi and friends one is going to put him on Ric's shit list.) ]

Ouch. Now I really don't think Mister Teddy Junior appreciates being boxed up, Elena.

Ya know, I think th'longer I stay here th'harder that decision is gonna be.

I do miss some of my friends back home but th' ones I'm makin' here... I'd miss them too if I left. I got my bar an' Sookie, an' Jess, people from home t'share it with me. Don't get me wrong I'd want them t'go home if they wanted to.

But I think I could be happy here. [Unless he loses Buffy or a few others. But if he's trapped because of what he's done then he'd deal with it.]

[ she doesn't plan this. (or maybe she knew, figured it out, make her silent decision sometime between cradling caroline against her chest and waiting with her at the hospital, watching as her bones reset, hearing his agonized cries.) this is something she has to do, somewhere she needs to be. it only takes a few moments to strap the stakes to her wrist, put a jacket on. (there was a time when she'd used to wear the device every day for the force; now she just has it. a new one. spare parts weren't hard to find, and after klaus...)

caroline's sleeping. resting. she needs that.

no one stops her leaving the apartment. no one notices. elena shows up at damon's without being stopped by anyone.

she doesn't think about why he would do this. doesn't want to. (she's plagued with knowing why, understanding why anyway - and the difference is this time, it doesn't matter.) she doesn't think of earlier today, the tears burning her eyes as she talked about jeremy and jenna. how his voice leveled her, helped her, comforted her, how she didn't want him to go; it doesn't matter. (it is, but it doesn't matter.)

she enters without invitation, without pause. the doorknob thuds against the wall's paneling, and she walks inside looking for him. she finds him in the den, drinking. (it's not surprising.) her lips curl slightly in a sneer, her eyes harden and the anger that's been simmering boils to the surface. (the hurt, the betrayal.) she makes her way forward.

it doesn't occur to her he could stop her if he wanted to: he won't, and no matter what she'll have the upper hand. it's a simple move, made easier by the couch in back of him. elena heels his shoulder and grabs his arm, kicks the back of leg hard enough to easily bruise anyone who's not a vampire, and uses the momentum to stumble and fall with him, crash against the couch and straddle him. it feels good to touch him with barely constrained rage and pain, her movements strong and sure. (she wants to hit him harder, move faster, for the first time wishes she could.)

there's a catch in her wrist, and she touches it. makes sure to look him eyes to moment the pressure releases and her fingers curl around the stake before it impales him, right over his heart. it scares her. doing it, because she can. she can kill him, and he won't stop her. ]

If you hurt Caroline again, I'll hurt you. [ she doesn't want to, and she wants to, and she will. ]
