[ welcome to elena's room. it's filled with things. and boxes. some things are in some boxes. she's thought twice about making this video, and then thought twice about making it public (klaus) but on her second thought, she decided to stop hiding in the network.

for the most part.

she's sitting cross-legged on her bed, mister teddy junior in her lap. ] It's kind of amazing how much stuff can accumulate here after a month. [ wait. ] More than. [ she puts him in the box. ] Books, clothes... [ her eyes look out to the space of her thoughts for a only a split second ] people, memories.

I know a lot of us are all working to find a way home. [ her included. maybe. ] I guess I was wondering why any of you would want to stay.

I think we should keep our conversations private for now. Even if it's just something silly. It's not a good idea for you to have Klaus' attention. Even if Rebekah's already told him... [ she swallows. it may be a desperate, scared attempt to protect her... but elena's willing to be that, do that. being a witch might attract klaus' attention too, without her help, but... the thing that gives her more pause at the moment is jeremy, jenna - how she kept things from them to keep them safe, and it hurt them in the end. (she lost jenna entirely.) so. ] Is that okay?

My ancestor's blood was used in a ritual over a thousand years ago, and now my blood means something to him. He used it to break the curse on himself, and now he needs it again to make more hybrids like him.

[ it's a reaction that if she'd thought about it, she wouldn't be surprised at. and she's not now. but it does mean zatanna understands the seriousness, but she's not sure she grasps it. ]

You should be scared. [ she's dead serious. she's been terrified of klaus, has been, is. until she learned how to steel that fear into strength. somehow. maybe barely. she has cards to play and weaknesses to exploit, but klaus has strength and ruthlessness and he's just as if not more clever. ] You can worry about me, but I'm not the first person he'll go through.

My best friend is a witch, a powerful one, and she needed all the magic of her ancestors to overpower him. It nearly killed her. [ it could have. they had to fake bonnie's death so klaus wouldn't kill her himself. ] He'll kill you if he sees you as a threat, or he'll use you. [ he wouldn't hesitate. ]

I know you care, Zatanna, and I know you'd help if I asked, but right now there's nothing anyone can do. [ nothing elena wants her to do. ] We have to keep this truce. [ while preparing against him. ]

{Truce? This didn't sound like much of a truce to her. He was threatening people, and if Zatanna needed to be warned, it meant he wasn't staying away.]

Maybe I'm more powerful than her.

[It wasn't a brag. More like a suggestion; she had no idea what constituted 'power' in Elena's world. It could be true. It could be that Zatanna's power was different enough that it could make a difference. She wasn't her father, but she was capable of some pretty fantastic things.]

You know I have to tell the others about this, right? My friends. The ones from my world. They need to know if something might come after me.

I'll explain. Tell them this is just an alert, not an attack.

[ that's because it's not a truce. it's a way to buy time. it's because klaus doesn't have any use for her without werewolves. but he might.

elena doesn't know what constitutes as power in zatanna's world either. all she knows is she doesn't want to find out unless they have to. that's why the suggestion has her lips pursing; she's about to say something maybe, but then.... ]

Zatanna, no, it's dangerous. [ if one of her friends acted strangely around him, even a little... ]

[ it's the ironclad kind. the family kind. elena doesn't want her to argue as she wants her to be okay. to understand why it's so important to her.

it's something she already feels, knows without it being said - that they have that connection. so she only lets out a breath hearing the sentiment returned, and she's quiet a moment after zatanna finishes. ]

You should do whatever you have to, to protect yourselves. [ to protect herself. the look in elena's eyes say that much.

she wants that for zatanna. for her to fight for herself. ]
