200 - [ action ] - open
[Oz is out in the open amidst all the celebrations. Going directly from a battle to a celebration? That’s a shocker. He’d just had Kelden in his arms. Bayarmaa was badly injured. So many dead wolves. So many dead Slayers. So many dead humans. And now instead of smoke it smells like cotton candy.

Oz’s reaction? He looks left. He looks right. His brow furrows as the memories of this place flood back into his brain space. And then…
]

Huh.

[It's something that's specific to this place. She's gotten to know him better here than she ever got to know him back home.]

Uhm...not just? I mean I did have one, about a...two weeks ago? What's the last thing you remember?

Tibet.

[He gives her a pointed look, trying to gauge whether she remembers this or not.] Soldiers. Slayers. War. And strangely... a submarine.

[She takes a sharp breath and nods. She definitely remembers that.] Uhm...yeah. Sorry about that. We--didn't realize...

[He's quiet for a moment, mulling that over. The Slayers had brought war to his peaceful home. But the wolves had seen war before.]

Peace wouldn't exist without conflict. What's the last thing you remember? [It's really his way of asking if she knows whether Bayarmaa and Kelden are okay since he left in midst of the worst of the battle.]

Uhm...San Francisco and Zompires. Long time after Tibet. [She hesitates, puzzling out what Oz is really wanting.] They're okay. Uhm...Bayarmaa and Kelden. Not here, but okay back there. At least when we left Tibet they were.

[He nods, glad that Buffy caught on without his having to ask since he'd actually been afraid of the answer.] Gladness.

[It was a catch 22 actually. Glad they survived but sad that he didn't have them here. However, his curiosity is piqued by something else she said.] Zompires, huh? Is that as self-explanatory as I think it is?

Xander sort of coined the phrase so...[Shrug. Yup. Pretty much self explanatory.]

Cool. [Because come on, what geek wouldn't think that that was cool? A zombie-vampire hybrid? AWEsome movie material. But then, there's the other side of the coin. Because it isn't a movie.] And scary.

Harder to kill?

[In a theoretical sort of way, they are cool. Not so much in a practical sort of way.]

Yes. And no. They turn human when you kill them. I'm on the FBI's most wanted list. Again.

Humanity as a side-effect of being dead. [Pause.] Tragically poetic.

[Buffy shrugs.] That's the life of a slayer. Tragically poetic. At least the tragic part. Less with the poet.

I wonder if that means there's a cure.

For poets?

[Sorry Oz. You lost her and sadly she can see why a cure for poets would be necessary. English class traumatized her.]

[He doesn’t really miss a beat, having known Buffy for years upon years now, he can follow her train of thought.] For Zombies, Vampires, Zompires.

[A beat.] Poets too. Longwinded.

Oh! Maybe. We're working on it. Right now, nothing attainable.

And the poet cure is a lost cause.
