[ Claire's been thinking about this for a few days. She's spoken to more than one vampire in a brief period of less than a week, and she's had Angel to think about before that. She's curious, and since she can't die... She can regenerate her blood... Maybe there's something she can do to make their lives easier. ]

So, I'm curious. How many vampires are here, exactly? What do you guys do for food? Somebody mentioned the blood bar but -- that's gotta get old, right? I mean, it's not like I know - I've never had blood, I'm not a vampire, I don't get the difference. French fries and chocolate milk all the way for me. Guess I'm just wondering.

Look -- it didn't -- suck completely. Okay? But I didn't get anything wet. Gross. And I'm not a junkie! It just -- it didn't really hurt. Not in a bad way, I guess. You get used to the way actual pain feels enough to almost be numb after years of jumping off of high rise buildings, and -- getting shot, and having your head sliced open -- being bitten is like the kind of pain that reminds you you're alive. Instead of the other kind.

[ Something about the way she explains it definitely hits home. He can understand that, pain and even more so blood. The things that keep you alive. Shows that you're not dead, even though you are.

His wounds heal up quickly too. Maybe not as well as hers, but quick enough to understand what she's on about. The lack of a heartbeat. Lack of breath. It's not the same, but oh yeah... he understands it.]

In that case... I'd be happy to give you that kind of pain whenever you want, poppet. [ His tone is almost sweet, definitely genuine.] And if you liked that, I'm sure th' real thing will be even better.
