If our soul gems turn us into witches-
she wakes up with a strangled yell, crying and panicking and trying to flail herself free from the cloth constricting her before she finally calms down enough to realize where she is. she's... just in her room. the same one she's been sleeping in for four days now. more precisely, she is on the floor, tangled in a sweaty heap of her bedsheets.

the nightmares have been coming since she arrived, of course, but this one's been by far the worst.

she sorts herself out. she makes her bed, sits in it for just long enough to get grossed out by how her pajamas are sticking to her skin, and showers. when she gets out, she's finally able to acknowledge that she's not going back to sleep tonight (as much as she'd like to), and if she's not going to sleep...

she's dressed in a few minutes and out the door of the apartment in another. all sorts of reasons and worries as to why she shouldn't go out fly through her mind, and each are rationalized away. she's strong. she's a magical girl, she can defend herself. homura's right there, within a single thought's reach if she really needs her. (even if she's doing everything she can to push madoka away, madoka still trusts her - one hundred percent.) and right now, she can't be alone in that quiet room.

she walks out into the night. ]

[ Roxy is very much a night owl - partially because her best friends have been in earlier time zones for as long as she's known them, plus being naturally not a morning person. So she is perfectly happy to work evenings bartending for Eric at the Blood Shack. She's actually tipsily on her way home from that when she passes Madoka and recognizes her.

And of course, y'know, she's friendly! So she grins widely and waves ]

Madoka! Hiiiii!

[ when she first spots the other girl, she does go on full alert for a moment. but that's just a moment - it's roxy, from a few days ago, and you can't really get more visibly harmless than her. (she looks like she might be weaving back and forth a bit, actually. is she alright- oh, right. wine and alcohol and all that.)

she smiles back, waving excitedly roxy's way. ]

Roxy! [ and, giggling a bit: ] What are you doing out this late?

	Comin' back from work! I went to get an appletini at the Blood Shack a couple days ago and the guy running it couldn't make one. So I made that, and a couple other things, and then he sorta hired me to bartend. How cool is that?! [ You get a hug, Madoka-chan! Roxy likes giving hugs. ] What're you doing out this late? Psh, I know exactly how to fix it, and it's called a mudslide. Or well, in theory, I haven't actually made one ever? But it's like an alcoholic milkshake. Which I hear is delicious. [ thoughtfully ] I've never actually had a milkshake, either...

[ OH! But questions! Questions to be answered! ]

Well, yeah, I mean, technically you do? But there's no age limit on stuff like alcohol here, so I guess if Eric can't make drinks and wants me to do it, he's totally free to hire me. Which is pretty cool. Plus I get to meet people! Which is really cool, 'cause before I came here, I hadn't actually met any humans before, not in person. Just Carapacians, like the lovely lady who does the mail here.

An alcoholic milkshake...? [ she laughs, only a little nervously. roxy's nice and pretty and about her age, so it's not quite so weird, but she's heard enough horror stories about people offering you alcohol! ] But that sounds like it would taste weird!

[ she listens to roxy talk, standing right next to her and relaxing in the warmth of another human being. it's... refreshing. it's nice and lovely, even, being able to just stand here and listen to someone talk. it feels normal.

that's something she's started to miss lately. ]

-wait, you'd never met any people before? [ she turns to look at roxy for that, eyes wide in surprise. ]

[ and then the people thing, and Roxy grins crookedly. It was a sucky time, but she's here now, so it's not too bad to remember. Especially when she's already pleasantly buzzed. ] Nuh-uh. Well, I mean, I had my friends online and shit, but Dirk was really far away and Jake and Jane were actually in the past, so I couldn't ever meet them in person. So it's really nice to have them here, and a bunch of other people I can meet, too!

[ then why is she recommending an alcoholic one? madoka is beginning to think taking drink recommendations from roxy might be a poor choice. she listens to roxy talk about her friends, considering asking what each of them are like - and then something clicks in her head.

Nope! Need ice cream and stuff for that, and that's not exactly the sorta thing that'll keep for a few hundred years. It's kinda hard to explain without totally explaining the video game we were gonna play before we ended up here, but the places Dirk and I grew up were prepared and stocked up for us like 400 years before we got there.

[ Because from everything she hears, milkshakes are delicious! And alcohol makes everything better! ]

Mmm... [ thoughtful ] Well, I know some theory, anyway. I don't really have any practical expertise, and I'm not a Time player so I don't get all the nuances of it, but I'd say I have a working knowledge of it, yeah.
