WHO: Nadia and Lily (and anyone else who would like to stop by) WHERE: #404 WHEN: Afternoon WHAT: Espresso, introductions, gossip RATING: PG
If there was one thing Nadia loved, it was coffee. While she resisted the urge to splurge her money on take-out, new shoes, and Gruyere cheese, she didn't stand a chance against the rich aroma, strong flavor and utter decadence of coffee. Not only did it taste fantastic, it provided a few more hours of blissful wakefulness with every cup. The downside was its cost. Nadia had saved up for a top of the line espresso maker (leading to her almost being unable to pay rent in October) and bought the best beans to go with it.
Now knowing for certain that at least one person would be stopping by for the afternoon, Nadia was in a tizzy trying to find everything she needed. Where had she put the coffee bean grinder? In the morning she'd managed to get all the boxes up to her apartment and separate them according to room. But maybe, just maybe she'd packed the grinder with some of her clothes? It didn't make sense but she had been in a rush to pack.
In crossing from the sparse kitchen to her room she woke up Chiquita, who'd fallen asleep watching tv. He gave a experimental bark. She called to him from her new bedroom, "I'll take you on a walk in a couple hours." The German Shepard seemed to accept this and fell back asleep. He really was the best dog she'd had.
A couple minutes later and she was humming happily to herself, grinder found now serving its purpose. She looked over at her lime-green tablecloth-covered table. The guacamole, salsa, and tortilla chips looked appetizing. Everything was set.
