How do you prefer to celebrate Halloween? It isn't a festival we generally observe in Soul Society, though I suppose there are some of us who do get into the spirit. The young ones, mostly.

[it's taken him a while to get the crazy contraption under control and learn how to use it, but here he is!]

The younger generation is almost always more energetic and outgoing. I find myself almost envying their tenacity.

As do I. It seems a wonderful thing to have so much strength and vigor.

And what perchance, is a Soul Society?

I find myself almost desensitized to whatever oddities this place possesses.

Kids tend to trick-or-treat, going door-to-door in costume to get treats from people. Adults sometimes go to costume parties, like the one that the invitation was sent out for. Sometimes people stay home, watch scary movies, and ignore it. I think it depends on what one feels like doing when Halloween rolls around?

Do you prefer a particular pastime?

I like the idea of a good party, where it's possible to meet and get to know other castle residents better. But I've been known to go the route of scary movies at home, when at home instead of here. France celebrates it a little differently.

For the record, sugar is usually the way people celebrate things around here.

But for Halloween people dress up in costumes too.

Then I'll have to learn where the best places to buy sweets can be found.

Though I'm not certain about costumes.

We didn't have Halloween specifically, but there were harvest festivals in some of the Districts. There was always really good dancing at those.

It was, though I haven't been to any in several years. Do you suppose there might be dancing at this... costume party?

I tended to celebrate Guy Fawkes Night as opposed to Halloween. Halloween was not as widely celebrated where I come from.

Guy Fawkes Night?

On the fifth of November in 1605, an assassination attempt on King James I was made, but it was ultimately thwarted when a man by the name of Guy Fawkes was arrested while guarding the explosives that had been planted beneath the House of Lords. We celebrate the fact that the king's life was spared and light bonfires. Some even burn effigies of Guy Fawkes or other such hated figures. In the time I am from, Guy Fawkes Night tended to be more violent and turbulent than it has historically been.

Halloween is not observed by my people, and for the most part the humans I knew did not celebrate it. I only know what it is from records that survived the terraforming of Earth.

For the most part. There may be some who still practice it, but much changed after the Wars.
