After hearing it, kinda - kinda had to look it up. Crazy, cool, all made of some weird awesome. The only highlight of having been actually half-spider was.. DUN DUN DUN - hearing this. Thanks crazy guy who liked being a spider for tipping me off.

Anyway.
So, Q&A: Superheroes fighting crime without a costume, is it...

A) Don't even bother reading that nonsense.
B) Strangely refreshing, but...
C) They can have superpowers without dressing like a special snowflake?
D) B & C.
E) Pete, you're a nerd. Why are you asking stupid questions?

Just curious. I'd go with B. I mean. C'mon. No costumes? Not really a thing. Even Bruce Willis had a cool trenchcoat in Unbreakable. Not that I know anything about that (lie). Just - just a guy enjoying a cool theme song. Y'know.. 'stead of being a productive member of society.

Isn't that what Harry Dresden does? Or Buffy?

I'm pretty sure neither have costumes.

Pretty sure Harry's got a cool trench, too. Buffy's got a stake and that cool scythe. Accessories count- right?

I think the only person who could make accessories a 'costume' is Lady Gaga. But then I bet that'd be the only thing she was wearing.

Yeah, that doesn't count. Least.. it shouldn't count.

That aside, how's the former ninja turtle been?

I'm doing greeeeat. Like Tony says. You know, the tiger. How are you?

Finals are coming up. We should study together. Excitement.

Good specification. Tony Robbins would be a different state of mind.

Done deal. Where at? Coffee shop, library?

I don't know who Tony Robbins is.

Library is good. Less distraction.

I heard something interesting the other day.

Dunno, Olive. I find this offensive.

Ahh. You heard correctly. But, she deserves better. She made some pretty good points.

Of course she did, she has a kick ass logical side. Congrats.

Not awesome. Mostly - mostly on the creepy side.

But yeah, thanks. Good song to have stuck in my head when I get up. Seen the memes people did with that cartoon? Good stuff.

Nothing creepy about it. Pure awesome.

Ya. It's been around since the 60s or whenever cartoons started appearing on television.

Disagreeing. Fully. Personal experience and all.

'50s, actually. Cartoons in general, I mean. Thinking about borrowing it from the library. Watched it?

Would it be totally cliche of me to point out that not all heroes are exactly super?

[info]spindly

Not cliche. Relevant. Who do you have beef with? Or are you talking about the unsung heroes - and firemen. Heroes like that.

Unsung. I'm a cop, hence the cliche part. Though I guess most of them do wear uniforms - costumes - so that might count. Not me, though. Detective. I get to wear my regular clothes. It's nice.

Uniform's only a costume at Halloween. Nice though - you're the best kind of hero.

Thanks. I'm Nick.

Though the comics that I've seen always made cops out to be kind of jerks. Without making too many assumptions about what kind of you are (or aren't), I hope you haven't had to deal with that too much.

Anytime. I'm Peter.

Nothing I didn't deserve. You're right though - about comics. Guess they want to glorify vigilantism a little bit.

Vigilantism has its place. To be honest, I kind of toe the line between the two quite a lot. So, I guess my official answer to your poll is C.

Easiest test I've ever taken. But it's always good to know for any brave soul that decides to try to be a vigilante that it always helps to have friends on the inside.

If you're about to ask me to build something - why don't I just draw it? That, I can do.

Uh... in a week, it'll be a month. Feels like shorter.

Drawing works. Extra points for creativity.

Once you hit that month, it all starts blending together. Think I've been here for two now - weird.

Depends on what you want me to draw. I could probably show you some freaky stuff from back home.

Definitely weird. I miss the people back home more than I miss the place. Not that I didn't love Portland, I just - I guess I don't miss the responsibility I had back home.

Ahh, responsibility... I feel you. I miss my Aunt, but I have someone from home here that helps make it not so bad. Iget what you mean.

Hard to describe but there are creatures in my world that everyone thinks are just in fairy tales. Not so much.

Must be nice. Or maybe terrifying. I keep going back and forth on hoping someone I know shows up and praying they never do.

Seen some things that belonged in a fairytale - before I got here.

Both - definitely both. Wouldn't be cool if she disappeared. Not all that far up easy street either way though. Sorry you're on your own here though.

Yeah, that seems to be a reoccurring theme to this place. Most of us are used to crazy stuff being thrown at us.

It's alright. Most of the people here remind me of home for all of the good reasons.

He's a mechanic. But I'm pretty sure that's not what you meant. Eisbibers are nonviolent, friendly, but they can be kind of cowardly... until you meet the right one that's willing to stand up for what he believes in. Like a lot of humans, I guess.

And they like to give gifts. Lots... and lots... and lots of gifts.

[info]spindly

Sure, and a furrier face. Not judging though! Who can judge a gift-giving kinda guy? Thing. Any of those in your drawing dangerous?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]sogrimm
2013-05-11 12:16 pm UTC (link)
Nobody, I guess. Until you end up with 50 gift baskets in your living room, and then it gets a bit overwhelming. And not everybody can see the furry face all the time. To most people, they just look human, but they're actually an entirely different species right under our nose called Wesen. And within the Wesen you have different subspecies such as the Eisbiber.

The most dangerous one on that list of drawings is the first. The Mauvais Dentes is swift, strong, and enjoys toying with its prey before killing them, much like a cat with a mouse. He enjoys ripping his victims apart for no other reason than just because he can.

The Blutbad can be dangerous since humans are usually on their diet. You know how in the Little Red Riding Hood the wolf eats the grandmother and the little girl? It's actually a thing. But they aren't all bad. My best friend is a Blutbad, and he keeps his urges under control by being a vegan.

Who'd have thought supernatural creatures would have species and subspecies? Makes sense though - in a weird way. That's crazy fascinating.

Score one for the vegans, then.
