Entry tags:andromeda tonks, kurt wagner

Who: Andromeda Tonks and Kurt Wagner
What: Working outside
When: Friday afternoon
Where: Castle grounds
Rating/Warnings: Probably low.
Status: In progress. Closed.

It was a pleasant day, and Andromeda had shooed the smaller versions of the Black brothers outside to play, following herself to set up camp on an outside table as they vanished off around a corner. She didn’t mind taking care of them – welcomed it, in fact. They filled some of the ache that Dora’s absence had left behind. But they reminded her of being eighteen – as she must have been around the time they came from. Breaking up with Ted every other week to go fill her prepared place as a wife to some pureblooded idiot, only to scramble back to him the next day. The countless arguments as he failed to understand her unwillingness to throw it all to one side and come with him… Things she hadn’t thought about in a long time.

And in the years that had passed she’d forgotten what her little relatives had been like. Or perhaps she just hadn’t been old enough to see it. But there they were. Regulus, quiet and careful, with large eyes and a serious little bow for a mouth. And Sirius, his skinny shoulders squared even at that young age, ready for an inevitable fight.

Andromeda sighed to no’ one in particular, the sound dissolving into the air, and straightened the papers spread before her until they sat completely parallel with each other. Half a dozen white rectangles against the wood, printed with black words that provided little relief for the way she was half-listening to the sounds of the outside, ready for a child’s yell as he fell or fought. It was no small wonder, therefore, that she didn’t hear the person coming down the path until they were almost on top of her.

"Mutants?" Andromeda frowned. "That doesn't sound like a particulary pleasant word. My little girl was born a metamorphmagus, so she can change her appearance at will. She was born with black hair, but it turned purple about ten minutes later. And she went through a phase when she was three when she'd walk around with a beak." She shook her head a little, a fond smile turning up the corners of her mouth.

She was getting used to the blue, she decided. Once you got over the initial surprise of his appearance he wasn't particulary unpleasant to look at - he had a kind face. Andromeda wasn't as bad as her sisters had been when it came to judging people, although there were still some prejudices that she had to work to keep squashed. But she had started to realise that being here was only helping with her own quest for self-improvement. She smiled across at the stranger, trying not to let the tail that scratched the back of his head faze her.

"I don't think so," she admitted. "There are people who come from the same worlds, and they tend to clump together. But I don't know who else has relations here. Those are my cousins-" She nodded over to where the boys were playing. "And I have a great nephew here. My daughter and actual nephew were here too, but they were sent home."

"It is and it isn't. I try to be proud of what I am but there are those who would call me a demon and want me dead for being what I am. I mean no one harm but one look at me and the assumption is that I come from the pits of hell," he sighed. Kurt followed her nod to watch the boys a moment and raised his right eyebrow.

"Great nephew? My goodness, and you are a mother, but you look so young!" Was that part of the abilities of a witch? To never age? Then he crinkled his brow and shook his head.

"Unless.. people, they come from different times too? Mein Gott, I wonder if anyone from my world is here? Perhaps I should ask around."

"Oh, I'm sorry," Andromeda bit her lip uncomfortably. "That must be terrible." For a stupid moment, she thought of Bella, but quickly pushed the idea of her deranged sister away and pushed a lock of chestnut hair back behind her ear. Then she laughed, flushing a little despite herself.

"She's only five," she admitted. "I had her when I was 21. But I'm afraid you got it in one. I don't think whoever runs this place is too worried about the chronological order. There's actually older versions of those two around-" She waved a hand vaguely towards the children. "In their twenties. It's all very confusing and it's probably best not to question it, if I'm quite honest."

Andromeda shrugged. "There could be. I can't say I've met anyone else who called themselves a mutant but that doesn't mean they're not around. I'm usually kept quite busy mothering our lot." She smiled, turning her gaze down to where her hands were crossed in her lap for a moment before glancing back up at him.

"So may I ask what year it was that you came here from?"

"Oh," he chuckled. "I am surprised none of the residents have run me out of this castle yet, but if there are witches and wizards I can see why I have not been yet... and they.."

He glanced to the boys and tilted his head, glowing yellow eyes squinting.

"They have older counterparts? How peculiar.. I can from the year 2009. So you are older than me right now? By a year, twenty six? I am twenty-five and only just this last May."

Andromeda laughed, shaking her head. "I wouldn't have dared guess. I suppose being blue, it's easier to disguise your age. I should think about it for when I start getting older." She grinned teasingly across at him, relaxing a little and resting her elbow on the table, propping her chin in her palm.

"But I came from 1978. I was born in 1952. So yes, I think we can safety say that I'm a lot older than you in both timelines." She smiled again, her eyes drifting towards the children. She couldn't help it, really. The pair of boys had a dreadful habit of getting completely filthy or stuck somewhere or lost in a few moments. She was rather looking forward to getting her break from them, whenever it might be. Although she wasn't deluded enough to think she wouldn't miss them the second they were gone.

She turned back to Kurt. "And have you had a proper chance to look around yet?" She questioned. "I know the first few days and weeks can be a little confusing."
