Who: SW crew and guests
What: They celebrate the Earth holiday
Where: Padmé and Anakin's rooms
When: Backdated to the morning of December 25th
Warnings: Possibly SW-based language?

She'd gotten up early to head down to the kitchen in order to meet Mara. Together the pair had made a wonderful breakfast that was now spread out across a table in the Skywalker's living space. Pancakes with various fruits, both from Earth and ones most of the people attending would recognize, bacon, sausage and ham, juice, coffee, milk - it was all laid out for people to pick at. In one corner of the room was a tree where presents were already gathered beneath and a fire burned in the fireplace to warm up the room.

The door to the hall is open for people to meander in and out as they like while the triplets are sharing a playpen, awake and watching the events happening.

Padmé is sitting in a chair near the triplets' playpen, a plate resting in her lap with an assortment of food. Mostly she's watching everyone else with a smile though anyone she hasn't seen yet will earn a cheery 'Merry Christmas'.

Even though this isn't a holiday they celebrate, she found it rather nice. They may all eat dinners together but there was just something different about spending time together outside of meals.

"It's nice, isn't it?" She said to the person closest to her.

Anakin couldn't argue with that. The previous year, it had been just him and Padmé, and Ani. And now Obi-Wan, Siri, Ahsoka, Mara and the triplets (even though Romi was born here, and five days older than Luke and Leia, it was simpler to group them together like that) were here. The oddest collection of family Anakin could hope for. He wouldn't trade it for anything.

He smiled at Padmé and leaned in for a kiss - in front of everyone who just casually happened to be watching them at the moment. That was such an interesting feeling, being so open with their relationship.

"Are you enjoying Christmas?"

Once he had a glass of the toastier eggnog in his hand, Luke still nestled in the other arm, he approached the evening's hostess.

"Padme." He offered a small bow. "Everything looks very nice indeed."

Obi-Wan entered the room hesitantly, meticulously wrapped presents in bags that he carried in both hands. He glanced around at everyone as he walked over to place each of them carefully under the tree. He was still uncomfortable with the idea that everyone knew exactly when and what he and Siri had been up to, but he'd been with her in the city most nights since his conversation with Anakin, learning to hide it in the Force.

And he showed up as promised.

Once the presents were arranged under the tree, he stood up and went looking for a bit of a stiff drink.

Siri followed him into the room, carrying her... less meticulously wrapped presents in a basket. Most of them. There was one, for Obi-Wan, tucked away in her pocket; a key with a bright blue ribbon tied to it, that she would give him later. When they were alone. She didn’t want to make him feel any more awkward than he already was... and if she was honest she was nervous.

They’d been spending most nights in the city, so she could teach him how to hide things in the Force. So she thought... she hoped, that he wouldn’t be bothered by it. But she didn’t know. It wasn’t like she’d ever given someone a key to her room before.

Setting her basket of presents under the tree, she drifted along the edges of the gathering, her hands tucked in the pockets of her jeans.

When he returned to her side, he was holding the infant Luke. And a little helplessly, at that. The child was sort of thrust into his arms. Not that he would complain. The baby had a very calm and happy presence in the Force. Being so close in his presence was...soothing.

Like her. But not in the same way as her.

"Hi."

She couldn’t help it, the way her eyes lit up when she was around him. It was just... happiness. And fondness. And more than a little bit of love.

And she didn’t have to hide it anymore.

She left her hands tucked securely in her pockets. After their conversation about... what the other Force sensitives knew about their... activities behind closed doors, she wasn’t sure how comfortable he would be with physical contact in public. So, hands in pockets. Or, they were, until she saw Luke in Obi-Wan’s arms. Then she was sliding a hand free and brushing a gentle fingertip against the baby’s cheek, an odd, gentle sort of smile on her face. “Hello, Luke,” she told him softly, before turning bright blue eyes to the man holding him. “Hi.”

"It's...going all right so far." He nodded towards her empty hands. "Do you want some sort of beverage?"

She nodded. “Yes, please.”

Gesturing to Luke she added, somewhat impulsively, “Would you like me to hold him for you?”

Obi-Wan | Anakin

Anakin didn't have any intentions about stiff drinks, or letting his former Master reach his goal. Instead he had one contented infant in his arms and another that had just burst into tears in her bassinet, as infants were wont to do.

"Here," he said to grab Obi-Wan's attention as he was passing, and then without further warning, he presented Luke and a rattle for Obi-Wan to take while Anakin saw to Romi's needs.

Once Romi was in Anakin's arms the baby stopped her wailing for just as mysterious reasons as she started.

Anakin turned and smiled at Obi-Wan. "Merry Christmas."

Obi-Wan looked at the child, a little startled, before looking at Anakin.

"Is that the traditional greeting?" he asked distractedly as the infant reached for his beard. Luke. He recognized the bright little presence in the Force.

"Gifting of infants?" Anakin asked brightly, knowing full well what Obi-Wan meant. But Anakin was in a good mood. He was just happy Obi-Wan had shown up.

"No, generally people do not give away their babies. But we do say Merry Christmas to one another."

Obi-Wan gave him a look, unamused, but not angry.

"Were you two waiting here to ambush me?" he asked dryly.

Anakin gave Obi-Wan a look in return, one that said he wasn't buying his former Master's display of grumpiness.

"You just attributed evil intent to a not even three month old baby." He shook his head, but he was hardly put out. More amused than anything else.

"I am glad you came." And this he said with the utmost sincerity.

Obi-Wan|Mara
[info]lifeyoulive

Mara believed she had this Christmas thing down. This was the second time she'd celebrated it, so when she'd helped Padmé make food that morning, she'd been relatively confident in what they were doing. Mara wasn't the best cook in the world, but she managed to not burn anything. She was rather proud of the display of food.

She mingled a bit, getting herself a plate of food and picking through it. Eventually, she gravitated over to Obi-Wan when he wasn't otherwise engaged in discussion with anyone else. She gave him a smile and a nod of her head. "Hello, Master Kenobi," she greeted warmly. She hadn't had overly much interaction with him, but she wanted to change that. Mara was past feeling strange at being the only one from the New Jedi Order here.

And this gathering was decidedly less awkward than the family gatherings on Earth had tended to be. Mara was relishing in the fact this was easy-going and drama-free. Of course Mara's definition of drama-free meant Jacen and Tahiri weren't present.

Obi-Wan turned at the sound of his name, still holding Luke cradled in the crook of one arm.

"Master Skywalker." He gave her a shallow bow so as not to risk dropping the baby. "I don't suppose you know where someone could find something to drink around here?"

Mara smiled and nodded. "As a matter of fact, I do. Which kind of drink are you looking for?" She asked. She was inclined to think he meant something with alcohol in it. She didn't exactly take him for being one for drinking pop. She moved over to where the drinks were available after giving Luke a smile in greeting.

Okay so it was still odd for her to see her husband as an infant in Obi-Wan's arms, but Mara was getting used to it. It was just one of those things she needed to adjust to, and she doing a remarkable job of it. Having her husband and one of her closest friends being infants currently was also a bit amusing, if she said so herself. It was something she could tease them about if the adult versions of them ever showed up here.

"I understand there's a slightly...stronger version of the eggnog."

He was interested in trying it. Just a little. He'd never had more than one or two drinks in a sitting. He'd never been interested in losing control.

"You are correct!" She responded with a smile. Mara grabbed a glass and first added the alcohol, then she added the eggnog. She then stirred the drink so the alcohol would mix in with it. Then she turned to Obi-Wan. "Would you like me to hold Luke while you try the drink?" She offered, knowing drinking and holding a baby wasn't always the easiest of tasks.

The giving of the key (post Christmas celebration); Siri|Obi-Wan
[info]neverlosefocus
2014-01-12 11:50 am UTC (link)
Leaving the Christmas celebration, she slipped her hand into Obi-Wan’s the moment they were outside Anakin and Padmé’s rooms, curling her fingers loosely around his; he could easily pull away if he wanted to. They were still somewhat in public, after all. Even if there was no one else in the hall with them for the moment.

She was nervous, the key tucked in her pocket weighing on her mind. They were alone. Or they would be alone, when they got back to their rooms. There was a part of her that was... scared. That was the truth. She was just... scared that this was a kriffing stupid thing to give as a gift. That he would refuse it. Or laugh. Or... she didn’t know what.

He could feel her anxiety, but didn't know where it came from. Had he done something at the party? Was there something going on at work that was preying on her mind with the distraction of the social gathering gone? He said nothing as they walked, uncertain how to calm her.

It was when they were near their rooms that she pulled him to a stop. There was no point in delaying. She didn’t want to delay any longer. “I have something for you. Something else,” she told him quietly. “One last gift.” Her hand, the one that wasn’t entwined with his, slipped into her pocket, fingers curling around the key.

"Another gift?" His hand fluttered in the direction they'd come from and then towards where she already wore his gift around her neck. "I...only got you the one thing." Had he messed up the protocol? Was there a set number for the person you were...partnered with? Like for children?

He was distracted by the concern that he had to find something else somehow.

"I, um. I didn't know."

He should have asked. But the man at the shop hadn't said anything. Nor the sign that suggested the necklace for 'that special someone'.

She knew what he was worrying about, knew it as soon as his hand fluttered at the necklace he’d given her. “And I love it, Obi-Wan. I just... wanted to give you something else. It’s...” She trailed off, struggling awkwardly for the words. KRIFF. Foregoing words, she pulled the key from her pocket instead. Holding it out to him, she gave him a hesitant, nervous smile that only lasted a moment.

“You don’t... have to. Take it, I mean. If you don’t want to.” Oh Force, this was such a bad idea. “I just...” Wanted you to be able to come and go from my room whenever you wanted. Wanted you to know you’re not intruding, that you’re always welcome. But she couldn’t seem to be able to speak those words out loud.

He took the key and looked at it for a moment. Wait. Was this the key to her room?

Was she sure he'd use it correctly? That was his first thought, but his fingers closed around it and he tucked it into a pouch on his belt.

"Thank you."

Was that the appropriate response? Was it enough of a response? He leaned in and pressed a kiss to her cheek.
