Padmé was extremely happy that Anakin had agreed to come shopping with her. Even if he didn't pick anything out as far as shopping for the baby or when she picked up some clothing for herself, that was fine. Padmé was happy to have his presence. Taking shopping for the baby slowly, getting things as time progressed onward, held the potential for lessening her stress. It meant it wasn't one giant thing to deal with. Furthermore, having Anakin around to help with the basic act of carrying bags was a plus.

Amidst the ride into town on the trolly, Padmé leaned her head against Anakin's shoulder. The option to show affection in public was one that she found extremely lovely. She hadn't lived through her marriage with Anakin in their universe, at least not yet. She didn't know what it was to try and maintain a relationship with no one else becoming aware of it. Still, she could imagine. The daunting idea of living a lie had been part of what had originally deterred her from pursuing anything.

"The next trolly stop has a few baby stores near it." Padmé informed him, still not moving away from him. She was doing fairly well with her pregnancy overall. Especially physically, but she knew that changes were looming ahead there. Emotionally, she was doing fairly well too, though it was a good amount to deal with. She wanted to be a good parent, a good mother. "I assume to start with things for the baby, then a few clothes for me. If there's anywhere else you want to stop, we can - of course."

“Well, infants look a bit like gastropods,” Anakin said, trying to be helpful. He walked up to where Padmé stood, eying the article of clothing in her hand. “Maybe ‘slugger’ is a cute name Earthings use for infants, comparing them to slugs?”

He let Padmé do most of the picking out. He didn’t have any kind of objection to the color blue. With his own wardrobe tending towards the monochromatic in greys, browns and blacks, he didn’t see the need to branch out to different colors. Blue was sufficient, in his mind. But if Padmé said they needed more colors, then he agreed.

“Alright." He put on a brighter expression, really trying to do this for Padmé, though the prospect of more stores wasn't something he looked forward to.

They made their way to the counter where the clerk started ringing them up. She was a kind-faced older woman. She smiled at them, and said cheerily, “Expecting a boy?”

Padmé shook her head when she thought about infants looking like slugs. She knew there was a lack of hair, but slugs?! "Earthlings are odd." It was a statement that had been made a number of times by the couple and, undoubtedly, would be made a number of times later.

When the clerk remarked about the gender, Padmé was confused, but smiled back politely. "We don't know what the gender is. I don't think I want to know, actually."

"Well, our return policy is on the back of your receipt. The tags still have to be attached, receipt has to be with it." After they had been rung up and paid, the clerk flipped the receipt over to show Padmé and Anakin once it had printed out where the return policy was and what the time and details entailed. Again, it left Padmé confused, but she didn't say anything more until they got out of the store.

"This is the one time that I wish I had Sabé or - someone here that I could send out instead of doing this myself." Padmé admitted, reaching for Anakin's hand again. "We're also going to need to get a crib, changing table, and high chair. Would you consider looking and deciding which models are the safest? A lot of my reading did talk about unsafe cribs and babies choking and being hurt, or even dying." In short, Padmé didn't want to get the wrong thing.
