The holidays had been lovely, if a bit strange. How exactly did one celebrate in a place without all of their friends around, and with a son who was already fully grown? As it turned out, much the same as one did when still at home: with lots of food and exchanging presents. James had eaten enough chocolate to kill a very large dog, and Harry was starting to get more comfortable around both of his parents, and the castle's feast had been nearly as good as those served at Hogwarts. So Lily was counting this Christmas as a success all round.

However, the wheels of commerce did not pause long even for festivities, and Lily had gone back to work a few shifts at Vellum's Tomes after the celebrations had stopped. Boxing Day sales were apparently not as big a thing here, but they were still open. After her shift Saturday she'd gone poking about the rest of the neighborhood - it was hard not to compare it to Diagon Alley, which she still missed, but the shops were more than adequate for her purposes. Which currently included finding the ingredients for Pepper-Up Potion. The January chill always led to colds and sniffles and having a supply on hand would be extremely helpful. Especially since James tended to go tearing about without a hat, and she somehow doubted Harry took after his mother in these circumstances.

"It certainly does," Lily agreed. "I gave up on Muggle fairy tales soon after I went to Hogwarts since they all seemed so wrong, but there's no reason those couldn't be closer to magic where you come from." Witches and goblins were painfully real, she'd discovered, and it was best to simply forget about her preconceptions rather than insist that the stories she'd grown up with were still useful.

Picking up a packet of potion ingredients - powdered hen's teeth, apparently - Lily studied it for a moment before turning back to Keleios with a nod. "Have you noticed any trends? I'm sure it's all very interesting." And she meant it.

"In magic? Sure," Keleios replied. "Once you get past a few hurdles in language and terminology, the basic principles remain the same. Magical vocabulary for evocation, a focus object to direct spells more efficiently. Charmed objects. Defensive wards."
