Who: Padmé Amidala and Karrin Murphy
What: Padmé dreams of the Geonosis arena from Ep II and two kick-butt ladies go at battle droids and so on
When: Thursday, October 4, 2012 - night time, while sleeping.
Where: Physically, respective bedrooms. In dream, on Geonosis.
Rating/Warnings: Violence, etc / PG-13
Status: Complete / Closed

Padmé hadn't yet experienced it, though she had experienced similar things to the arena. She had seen and studied the layout, watched the scene unfold in horror as she had seen the Separatists express their hatred of her, their desire for her head. The Clone Wars had started that day. It would be what she would return to, once her stay in the Land of Make Believe was over. In a way, it was a nightmare for her, despite being an aspect of reality. Also unfortunate for the Senator, the dream had started right as Padmé and Anakin had been chained to their respective pillars to await execution, rather than affording her that brief moment of honesty with Anakin beforehand when she admitted her love.

The scene had unfolded as seen in the movie, her mind filling in bits and pieces between the heart-pounding snippets shown with reasonable guesses of how a battle like that would go. The world of the dream was funny, in that way, and it was a concept that Padmé didn't understand; it all seemed real to her as it happened.

While the news of Captain Panaka's betrayal of her had cut deeply, knowing he had told Palpatine of her relationship with Anakin to gain political favor, her former Captain had managed to have her trained for quite a number of situations. His betrayal that was yet to come wasn't even in her mind as she had slipped a pin into her mouth, then picked the locks on her restraints with relative ease. Obi-Wan's quip that she was quite on top of things was accurate; Padmé was prepared, despite their failure to save Obi-Wan.

Dooku assured the Nemodian viceroy that she would die as she, along with a projection of Obi-Wan and Anakin, dealt with the respective beasts that had been chosen for the blood sport. Then they were cornered off, only to be saved by a number of Jedi; lightsabers ignited around the arena, a blaze of colors as the plasma-blades ignited in a stand. A start of a war, but their temporary salvation in a situation that already meant the Republic was to be pulled into a war. Their numbers dwindled, they were surrounded by battledroids, and it seemed to be the final stand.

With that, Master Windu stood to the front of her, Anakin beside to her right and Master Kenobi on her left, preparing their lightsabers to deflect what bolts they could amidst the final bout. Master Windu refused to surrender, leading the droids to raise their arms to fire and -

Padmé glanced upward, calling out, "Look!"

The Grand Army of the Republic was about to make its first debut, though Padmé didn't yet know who this cavalry consisted of, nor did she know that there was one additional member that didn't necessarily belong.

Lieutenant Murphy stood among the ranks, eyes and ears alert as they marched in. She knew, inherently, what her objective was; though she seemed to have been dropped into the middle of things. She didn't question it. She just followed her gut.

Padmé listened to Mace talk to the lead Clone Commander, then immediately resumed the task of shooting droids as she realized the temporarily paused battle had resumed full swing. The blaster she had wasn't hers, or at least her ELG-3A, but it worked.

If there was one thing Karrin excelled at, it was shooting. Back home, her office had been full of trophies. But of course, she wasn't thinking about any of that in the here and now. All she was thinking about was survival. She had to get these people out alive, or die trying.

The troops, along with Master Yoda, were a glimmer of hope. Yoda's instructions, "Around the survivors a perimeter create." lead to firing of weapons from the sides of the swoops as well as the rescue of the Jedi and Padmé, the transports landing in the middle and allowing them to dash onto the closest vehicle before taking off in pursuit of Count Dooku.

Padmé was on a transport with Anakin, Obi-Wan, and a spattering of clone troops. The presense of a very familiar looking person, amidst the white helmeted soldiers, startled her. "Satine?" But what would the Grand Duchess of Mandalore be doing amidst their rescuers?

Karrin was picking off droids left and right, dropping them like flies as she covered the retreat. Once the Jedi and the young Senator were on board, she paused to take a breath and regroup. Only when Padme addressed her by the Duchess' name did she remember that she shared the woman's face.

"It's Murphy," she said, putting up her blaster and offering a hand. "Lieutenant Karrin Murphy."

Padmé took and shook the offered the hand with a confused, but grateful look. "That's - right. I forgot about the uncanny resemblance." But that was the way of it, wasn't it? Weird things happened, people looked alike, and they weren't clones. Even if most of the transport ship was clones and, thus, the resemblance would've made sense in that context. "I'm grateful for the help. We all are."

A few shots from a nearby tower whizzed by the transport and Obi-Wan barked out a command to hold on. Padmé reached above to grip on the handles attached to the ceiling. The projection of Anakin called out, "Aim right above the fuel cells!" as the vehicles swept through an area full of towers. Commands were followed and explosions followed as they fell, droids scrambling beneath the unmanned constructs. Even if it was droids, Padmé couldn't help but feel a sense of worry. Their ship stayed aloft, but she could see troops exchanging fire below with droids.

She knew they were headed after Dooku, but her mind wasn't on the pursuit or on the exchanges the Jedi were tossing back and forth at each other. Rather, Padmé said quietly, "A battle like this. This could be the start of all-out war."

Neither of the projections of the Jedi seemed to hear her, focused on commanding the clones at the gun turrets to shoot at the docked circular ships before they had a chance to take off and retreat. "This isn't what I wanted."

"I'm sorry," Karrin said quietly, "I know what it's like to have plans go awry." Her first two marriages. Her career. It was the story of her life before coming to the castle.

"Starting wars is always so much easier than stopping them."

There were so many events leading up to that point, leading up to that battle, but the effects were going to be undeniable. There would be war. "I'm not sure how this can be stopped." It was a quiet, but worried admission from Padmé.

The projections of Obi-Wan and Anakin spotted Dooku, heading out on a speeder bike with two escorts along with him, and called to shoot him down. When a Clone notified them they were out of rockets and then they attempted to pursue, the escorts fell back and started to shoot at the transport. One strong swerve sent Padmé and the nearest person flying backward out of the transport, falling toward the sandy terrain -

And waking up in her bed, startled. Padmé looked around for a few moments to confirm where she was before she settled down and snuggled up against her husband, trying to forget the peculiar dream.
