Mulling over Melinda's life story, Stephen nodded slowly, taking small tastes of his dessert in order to make it last as long as possible. "From one sort of concoction to another, I suppose. There are probably more similarities than I would have imagined."
He shrugged. "I kind of fell into it. Not in the sense that I suddenly ended up on the air, but originally I was just doing office jobs. Sorting records, making tea, that sort of thing. I kind of picked things up as I went along and then one day they needed someone for a bit of last-minute late-night cover and the producer thought my voice was all right, so... it just kind of grew from there, really." Stephen picked up his glass. "Lots of weird shifts on air for a while until I landed Weekend Love Songs."
"Of course, I can't play an instrument for the life of me. I have a guitar languishing away at home, but I might as well have bananas for fingers."
