RP: A meal without wine is like a day without sunshine
Characters: Stephen Cornfoot, Melinda Bobbin
Date: January 12th
Setting: A 5-star wine-pairing dinner in New York City
Summary: Stephen mixes things up a bit and takes Melinda for a night out
Warnings:
Having been invited by Cho to join her in Cuba last week, Stephen had been unprepared to discover an envelope perched atop the dresser in his room as he awoke. His brow had furrowed in contemplation as he considered the possibilities that lay before him. While he had enjoyed his date with Cho and selected her to receive his rose, he wasn't sure that he felt any sort of spark. Perhaps that was why making his decision had proved so difficult.
A wine-pairing in New York offered new possibilities, so he had asked a new partner for this date, someone he thought would appreciate matching flavours to food: Melinda. So, after breakfast, he had asked if she would care to join him for dinner.
The food was excellent, the company gorgeous. The seven-course tasting menu left him feeling comfortably full, but there was still another course to go. While he had been tempted by the chocolate option, the idea of a chilli pepper meringue among other things was too intriguing to pass up.
The sommelier filled their glasses, giving them information about what they were drinking. While he liked a good glass of wine, Stephen didn't usually bother to find out too much about the vintage. All in all, he was rather glad that he wasn't picking up the bill for this dinner.
"So what's the expert's opinion on dessert?" he asked with a grin once they were left to themselves once more.
