The fact of the matter was this: Stiles kind of owed Derek. Like, quite a bit.. and though that fact made him feel a little uneasy, it was nevertheless undeniable. Not only had Derek saved Shauna from uncertain death after the rogue werewolf ordeal at the school, he'd also answered questions that Stiles had brought to him in regards to Scott and just... well, general lycanthropy where Google had failed to do so (and let's be honest, how much stock could he really place in the information found on The Internet in the first place?). So, the least Stiles could do was help the guy out with a simple request, right? Except everything about this was still confusing and very much in a gray area, as far as he was concerned.
Stiles wasn't, technically, part of Derek's pack. In fact, he didn't play much of a role in anything happening at the moment, except that he was usually at the proverbial scene of the crime when something went down, and because of this, often felt guilty for having been the cause or just generally being unable to help without getting in the way. Stiles was Scott's best friend, and that was about as much stock as he had in the supernatural world currently, so to say he was puzzled when Derek Hale of all people had asked for his help personally in accommodating his new pack -- well, it'd been a surprise. Stiles didn't know much about Derek, let alone about the predicament he was now in as a new Alpha, so he couldn't presume to know what the reasoning behind all of this was, but even if Derek had an ulterior motive of sorts, it wasn't like Stiles really had anything to offer in gain. Still, this left him on edge.
Fingers tapped away a rhythm against the leather steering wheel of his jeep while he waited in the parking lot of Best Buy. Introspectively, Stiles knew this was an innocent meet-up, but worst case scenario, at least he'd picked a public meeting place. The lot wasn't packed like it would normally be on the weekend, but there were enough people coming and going that his death or kidnapping would be noticed if such a thing happened. He didn't necessarily believe Derek to be capable of such things, but without knowing him on a personal level, precautions were never really a bad thing -- besides, the so-called 'animal attacks' were becoming more bold: attacks happening during the day, closer in town than just out at the preserve. It was enough to put any sane and rational human being on edge, because unlike Derek, Stiles wouldn't be able to heal from a slashed chest.
Luckily, Stiles wasn't kept waiting too long, and after having spotted Derek approaching in his rearview mirror - the jeep was far too conspicuous, he needed something more stealthy - he grabbed his phone and keys before hopping out of the jeep and nearly falling back against the closed door in his haste to stand. "Hey!" he greeted, recovering quickly and pocketing his belongings while trying not to stare at Derek for too long -- he wasn't sure about the eye contact etiquette with werewolves but he also knew that, werewolf or not, Derek Hale was intimidating just in appearance alone. This was going to be a long and awkward afternoon.
