WHO: Sean Walcott & Libby Harper
WHAT: Watching The Walking Dead
WHERE: Libby's house
WHEN: Late at night, Thursday 9/24
RATING: PG?
STATUS: In Progress
Despite being twenty-four years old, there were certain things in life Sean simply didn’t know how to do. Being someone’s friend in a capacity outside of the online or texting world was one of them. Naturally, when Libby had invited him over to keep her company because she was afraid after watching The Walking Dead, his initial instinct had been avoid saying yes at all costs. Aside from the fact that he wasn’t all that well socialized outside of dealing with grieving families, Sean had the underlying issue of his ever present hunger keeping him from thinking it was a good idea. An opinion his brother was none too subtle in agreeing with, all the while encouraging him to do what might make him happy. Which would being able to go watch a TV show or a movie with Libby and not worry about anything bad happening.
Pulling a 180, Sean had told Libby he changed his mind, then got up and quickly ate some leftovers from their dinner as a preemptive measure. He debated changing back into his jeans, but Sean wound up leaving the house in his flannel pajama pants and white t-shirt. It was well after 10pm and though he didn’t always go to bed until much later, he was very much into being comfortable within in his own home. As it was, halfway to Libby’s he regretted the decision, worrying that perhaps this was too casual for their first time hanging out together one on one for a significant amount of time. It was ridiculous, because logically he knew it didn’t matter. In any case, he wasn’t about to go back inside to change.
Leaving had felt a little like how he thought teenagers must feel when they snuck out. Yes, he was a grown adult, and yes, he was fully capable of making his own decisions in life about where he went, but Sean knew neither of his parents would support his going to see Libby. They typically were of the mindset that the less contact their family had with humans outside of work, the better. So far he’d been careful to keep the fact that he’d befriended Libby from them, which didn’t sit all that well with him considering he hated lying. Though technically he could argue that he’d only lied by omission. That was better, right? David seemed to be the only one who’d sussed out the truth of the matter, and Sean knew he could rely on his brother to keep his secret.
Coming up to Libby’s back door, Sean was nervous. She’d said it would be unlocked, but he felt awkward opening it without waiting for her to answer. The thought of knocking and making her come to the door made him feel even more awkward, so he told himself to suck it up and go in. Once inside, he only took a few steps in before he called out, “Libby? It’s Sean.”
