Who: Everyone
What: Day of the Dead celebration
Where: The park
When: Saturday starting at sundown
Warnings: probably discussions of death; let me know if anything else
Status: party post!
After realizing how many people were interested in celebrating the Day of the Dead, Penelope knew that her apartment was not going to be an appropriate venue, so she made some phone calls and arranged to set up in the park. Since the weather may or may not cooperate, there was a large canopy set up to protect party goers from any potential precipitation. If the weather turned too cool, they could roll down the sides and turn on some heaters.
The middle of the tent featured a brightly colored altar with plenty of candles where people could leave their notes or offerings.
Another table set off to one side was laden with traditional food, such as tamales and pan de muerto along with Mexican hot chocolate and sugar skills. For those who weren't into the more Latin inspired flavors, there were also some platters of sandwiches and other typical party fare.
