Who: Matt Murdock and Karen Page
What: Matt is mopey and Karen tries to help
When: Tuesday evening
Where: Matt's apartment
Warnings: Probably none. Karen is one of like, 3 people he won't be mean to right now
Matt knew he was being a prick. Everyone just wanted to help. But he honestly had wanted to be alone. Either that or go beat some mugger or wannabe rapist until they forgot their own name.
But Karen... Karen was one of the only people in the world who he could never say no to. He had hurt her, more than once, and she was still the most loyal sort of friend. And he knew, deep down, he shouldn't be alone that night. And while Foggy would almost always give him space if he asked, Karen knew better.
The apartment felt so empty. He and Julia hadn't officially been living together or anything but they may as well have been. They spent far more time together than they did apart. The scent of her shampoo was still strong in his far too sensitive nose. And God, he knew it was ridiculous, but he could still feel her everywhere. If he concentrated, he could still hear her laughing at his attempts to cook. Or hear her humming along with whatever tv theme was playing. She was exceptionally good at the Game of Thrones theme.
And now...nothing. For someone who struggled with quiet, the silence was physically painful.
When Karen knocked at the door, he didn't bother answering. She'd try the knob in a moment and realize it was open. But he wouldn't be surprised if she was able to pick the lock. She had a very random skill set that way. He just stayed in his spot, sprawled on 'his' corner of the couch, listening to a vast amount of nothing.
