I don't suppose there's a church doing a Christmas Eve mass around here, is there?

There is actually. [Address and name of it]. It's a nice service. I've gone ever year.

Oh, perfect, thank you. I'm not the best Catholic these days but I've never missed a Christmas Eve service.

How many years have you been here?

I'm not Catholic at all, it just doesn't feel like Christmas unless I go to some sort of service, you know?

Over four years.

I do know that feeling well. The music, the hushed feeling, you can't quite grasp it any other time of the year.

That feels like forever, honestly.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

It has been forever but I wouldn't trade any of it.

I grew up in a Catholic children's home, it's just kind of always been a part of me, honestly.

It just seems so sleepy little town. Everything is so quiet. I can't imagine four years here.

I grew up in a sleepy little town ( if you can count a tourist trap as sleepy ) so this is like home for me.

Meanwhile, I was in the world's largest tourist trap. Other than Disneyland. That's probably the bigger tourist trap. But some might say NYC is the bigger one.

Like the aliens? Ok, so I have to know. Any encounters yourself? Or are you from one of the more mundane worlds? Alienless?

I might have. When I was a teenager I was shot and brought back to life by a class mate of mine, who happened to be an alien. I met his sister and best friend after that, also aliens. And another one I'd rather not talk about.

So definitely not alienless but overall not bad people. Good to know.

Well three out of those four weren't bad people. We met many others over the years that weren't so good.

Then I imagine they're no different from humans. Some are fine. Some, definitely not so fine. And then plenty in the middle.

I'd say every church in town is doing one. Should be easy enough to find one that suits you.

This place spoils you for choices when it comes to talking to God.

Is it awful I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not?

God and I have a tenuous relationship. I'd like to push it back towards the side of good.

I get that in person too.

But as a God fearing man myself, I do think there’s no problem with shopping around a little.

Oh, good, as long as it's not an internet thing.

I may. It's good to know there are options. In New York there's some form of church on every other corner. And a pizza place on the ones in between.

Indiana's the same, minus the pizza. So you're good. What sorta church are you looking for?

You going to go to Mass before or after drinks at my place?

Well typically it's a midnight mass so probably before unless you want to stay up really really late? But you know Santa only comes when good little girls are in bed, so...

I thought half the point of Mass was that you sat there uncomfortably. Isn't that why pews are so hard?

[info]ninjaattorney

No, pews are hard so you're grateful for all the standing and kneeling. Obviously.

Let's see how much eggnog I decide to drink that night.

Also, hey. You're Matt Murdock, right? I know you. Well, I know of you. A version of you. It's a long story, but hi. I'm Kate Bishop and you're definitely one of the top five most amazing superheroes in my book.

I can't decide if going to Mass wasted is better or worse. I should probably say worse, shouldn't I?

I am, yeah. A version of me? Yeah, okay. That's a story I'm going to need to hear. At least at some point. I mean, I'm grateful for the praise though I think it may be misplaced. But yeah, definitely interested in a bit more, there, Kate.

[info]kateaccompli

Probably worse, but the upside is that you're going so that's something, right? I mean, you're from New York. I'm sure you've seen St. Patrick's or any church on New Year's Day.

The short version is that it's a thing the Dome does. I know a handful of other folks that are here in my world, but they're from a different time and place altogether.

It's nice and confusing enough to make your head hurt.

See, you say it's something, Catholic guilt says it's all but required. It's a fine line, really. I do love New Year's at any church just because it's fun to watch everyone make resolutions to go to services and confession and then we don't hear from them again till Easter. Sometimes Ash Wednesday if they're desperate.

I'm still lost on this other version of me thing. Am I still...I don't know, me? The Daredevil thing, practicing law, all that?

I'll admit that I was one of those people who only showed their face for those important holidays for a while. I had reasons, though. Good reasons.

Well, you're you by name only I think? What I mean by that is things that happened in your world didn't happen in my world.

I know Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, too, but they're really different where I'm from.

It happens. It just always made me laugh when people SWORE this was the year they'd be there every Sunday. Then...not so much.

That's so weird. I mean, it's still nice to meet you and all, and I guess as long as you don't expect me to act like a me who isn't me, we're good. Just really weird. I should assume alternate universes exist, we're here after all. But still weird.

They're good people. Even though they'll both try to deny that.

[info]kateaccompli

Nah. Don't worry about that. I know that folks are different from what I know and that's totally fine!

I mean, if we're being honest? I kind of prefer the people from the other place than my own place.

See, now you've just got me curious about this other me from another world where apparently people aren't as good. Does he have a Foggy and a Karen to ground him, because really, that's the important bit.
