Christmas carols...

Love or hate them? I feel like it seriously depends on what song it is.

And definitely what version of the song it is.

The version so matters! Like forties stuff is just waay too old for me.

They so, so have their place in music history -- and history in general, sometimes -- but some of them just aren't my favorites.

Exactly my thoughts.

But I gotta admit, there's nothing like the oldies on Christmas Day, for me. That's pretty okay.

The classics are the best.

How classic we talking?

Stuff I grew up with in the 20s and 30s.

When you said classic, you meant classic.

I don't mind all the pop/country/etc spins on it, but they don't beat out my favorites.

Hey, I can respect the classics because without them a lot of the music I hear now wouldn't here.

That is very, very true.

Definitely depends on the song. All I know is, in have a very stern lecture planned for the day I finally get to meet Michael Buble.

His stuff has a definite jazz vibe to it.

It could be worse. It could be that Mariah Carey song. Or the Josh Groban one that, admittedly, makes me cry every time.

There is nothing wrong with a few tears shed for a particularly beautiful song.

Personally, I enjoy them. I'm amazed by the selection available these days.

They do a lot of rehashing of the old ones.

The "old ones" are still relatively new to me, so I suppose I don't mind them as much - though a few versions are rather...jarring, to say the least.

Well, at least you won't get tired of hearing them right away.
