I have found your shopping centers to be terribly simplistic. It is almost refreshing to not jump through a hundred hoops and AI's to get what I want. so easy to exploit, too

Uh, what?

They're simple. It's almost refreshing. No nosy AI's trying to sell me sixteen other things it things i want.

Huh. I mean, when I was born I guess we just had little neighborhood markets but I don't remember that at all.

That's so quaint

Well, it was the 1930's.

Such ancient history, my goodness.

Well, my dad's a Greek god so that's even more ancient.

Quite so.

Aren't shopping centers just shopping centers?

I mean, I don't think there are any where you have to fight monsters to get to the checkout lane? Maybe I'm wrong?

(Reply to this) (Thread)

[info]reileenkawahara
2018-04-15 05:35 pm UTC (link)
Not really. AI's tend to be terribly pushy about what they think you want.

And there's not check out lanes anymore where I'm from. This is very much less in your face.

Huh. I can't say that sounds very cool.

Probably keeps people from stealing as much, though?

[info]reileenkawahara
2018-04-15 05:39 pm UTC (link)
Mm. The richer you are the less you have to deal with it. So there's that.

If you want to die, you can steal, I suppose.

Wha? Seriously? They kill you for shoplifting?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]reileenkawahara
2018-04-15 05:41 pm UTC (link)
Mm. Sometimes. Or you're thrown on ice. It depends on who you stole from.

Yeeeeeah, that's a bit overkill I think. It's just stuff.

[info]reileenkawahara

As you say but stuff equals wealth and there's nothing more important than wealth. It provides safety, security, a roof over your head. It was worth protecting.

I think there are a lot of things more important than wealth.

It's certainly different stuff here.

[info]mademeamurderer
2018-04-15 05:37 pm UTC (link)
How's that?

It all seems different to me because we have basically nothing.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]reileenkawahara
2018-04-15 05:41 pm UTC (link)
It's just different, less advanced items. You could get anything you wanted back home if you had money. anything. The last living song tree, a person brought from storage, new bodies. This is almost primative.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]mademeamurderer
2018-04-15 05:45 pm UTC (link)
Well, all that stuff sounds pretty horrible, so maybe that's a good thing.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]reileenkawahara
2018-04-15 05:46 pm UTC (link)
Ah, but the trees were glorious. Such beautiful sounds they made. Mmm, a new body wasn't a bad thing. Break yours, get a new one. If you could afford it, anyway.

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]mademeamurderer
2018-04-15 05:51 pm UTC (link)
How'd you get trees to sing anyway?

(Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

[info]reileenkawahara
2018-04-15 05:54 pm UTC (link)
The Songspire trees were made of a semi-organic rock, how they work is still unknown, but they give off the most pleasant of songs.

Me, no, but they never were very plentiful to begin with. Humanity is a destructive thing.

We've destroyed many planets in our time. Earth rebuilds, it is nature's way.
