Sigrun took a break and sat down on a bench in the middle of town. She’d been by Nora’s, dropped off food with a promise she’d be back, then hit the streets again. Missing Thor was like a missing link in her very being - and one she hadn’t expected to feel. Back home she’d only really had Odin to deal with, and it wasn’t like he went anywhere unless it was to ride in the Hunt. The fact she’d connected with his son here was strange, and wonderful, and now it was ripped from her.
She felt, perhaps, she’d feel this way if Harry was torn from her too. Strange how one gets attached to people.
She shook out her hair, which had been braided back in a hurry, and ran her hand through the loose strands before Hugin and Munin made a surprise appearance, each taking a shoulder to land on. She wrinkled her nose, they hadn’t found a thing.
“Damn it.”

“Miss, are you okay?” Magius was an odd man, standing some 6’9” and thin, his muscles well formed but lean, he had the build of a too-tall runner, or a wizard who had to run for his life a lot in his lifetime. Such was the fate of wizards in his world. He was studious, and looked it, with a book in one hand, and a book in one of the pockets of his jacket, and he had a curious look on his face as he turned to her, having heard her exclamation.
He was drenched in magic, to the point where those sensitive to it would feel it like a dowser would a well of water.
***
Sigrun twitched her nose at the feel of magic, why did everyone she run across practically swim in the stuff? Herself included. She pat the ravens on the head and shoo’d them off, not that they listened, instead they both look at Magius with a strange level of intelligence, even for intelligent birds.
“Miss?” she laughed a little “I haven’t been called miss in forever.” her lips twitched into a smirk. “Oh, just looking for a friend the Dome saw fit to take from us. I am hoping I am wrong but these two haven’t found him yet, so I doubt I am.”
***
Magius nodded. “It is a thing the Dome likes doing, sadly.” He waved a hand and muttered a word, and a map of the entire dome area, in relief, appeared between them, floating at elbow height about.
“Where have you searched?” if she was going to search, he might as well try to help.
***
Sigrun looked at the map then smirked as she traced her hand over the southern half of the city. “So far, there. The ravens went to the south east and south west.” she ran a hand over her hair and sighed.
“The Dome is troublesome, then. It needs a lesson in manners.” she sniffed in annoyance. “It should not do such things.” because clearly, being angry at the Dome was an effective thing.
**
The part she had mentioned turned green. The parts the ravens had gone over turned blue. The rest remained as it was. Magius nodded, eyes studying the map.
“It is. Often times, it is quite rude, and problematical. And it does not listen to lessons.” He hmmed.
“I can take this part of the map.” he traced an area to one side.
***
“Are you sure? You don’t even know me.” she looked at him through half narrowed eyes, kind of wary.
“It is rather rude and that is annoying.” she sighed a bit. “I really am not a fan of it and it’s antics right now.”
**
“I am. To aid others is my cause. So said my Gods, and i am not one to argue with them… most of the time.” He grinned at her, eyes dancing.
“It is. The Dome has claimed many, and taken many, but it does sometimes give back. Rarely, but sometimes.”
***
“I see. Well then, thank you for your assistance. I am grateful for it.” She tilted her head at him. “I am part of my Gods.”
“Well I certainly hope it shall return my friend. I grew rather fond of having him here.” She sighed a little then shrugged. “Get moving you lazy birds.” She got them to move finally.
***
“You are welcome, milady.” Magius nodded his head in a bow. “Oh yes? It is an invigorating feeling, is it not?” His eyes danced with it.
“If we spread out, you going that way, I this way, and the birds? The birds going that way and that way, we could cover more ground.”
***
“It is certainly something.” She said as she stood, brushing snow off her, then smiling. “It can be both a blessing and a curse.”
Then she nodded. “That would be good.thank you. Perhaps they'll be more useful this time.” She laughed softly, “but they are of their own mind’ thank you, again.”
***
Magius chuckled.”I can see how it would be if I were still alive in my world.” He smiled warmly.
“Hopefully, it will, be more blessing and less curse for you from, now on.”
Magius looked at the ravens. “What do you say, birds? Care to hunt for a lost man?” Magic intertwined his words, enabling a speak to animals spell.
***
Sigrun only laughed “It is always both and it’s a path I tread willingly.” she smiled warmly, though.
He got snark from both birds - they clearly knew their jobs in life and were still mouthing off about it. ”Not really, no.” one answered before taking off, anyway. The other just gave him a look. ”It is our job to do so.” said the other before taking off.
**
Magius snerked and watched them go. “Odd birds.” he shook his head and turned to her, and smiled back. “You are a warrior, I think, and one most puissant.”
He nodded to her, then, straightening. “I would enjoy hearing of your land and adventures, after our search.”
***
“They’re Odin’s ravens. They tend to be a bit mouthy even with me, and I work with them more often than not.” she smirked a touch. “I am. A Valkyrie, kind of a necessity to be a warrior.” she smiled.
“I suppose that’s possible. Good luck and good hunting.” she smiled before moving towards the path she was to take.
