Classes were over now for the semester, and it was such an enormous relief. Her life didn't go back to relaxation, or anything like that, but she was free to just work and take care of her daughter. As if somehow those weren't both full time jobs.
Still, it was less than she'd been doing, and she was grateful. She was looking forward to spending more time with Adam and Katie, and less time studying and wondering why in the world she'd ever decided to go to college in the first place.
Since her load had lightened a bit, she was out tonight doing some grocery shopping so that Adam wouldn't have to. He was almost finished with school now too, but with his job being entirely full time, he had less time than she did.
Feeling rather festive, Finch found herself in the cake mix aisle. She'd never had a real cake before, at least, not before coming here. They were something special she associated with Madison Valley, and she thought maybe she and Adam deserved one right about now. In any case, she wanted one, and the cheapness of the mix and the frosting amazed her. She'd always considered them something that was reserved only for the rich in the Capitol.
After some time to decide which she wanted, she grabbed a dark-chocolate cake mix and some flourescent pink frosting that pleased her, and then headed over to the ice cream aisle to get some vanilla to complement it. She opted for the Hagen-Daas, even though it was really expensive, because she'd had it once, and it was delicious.
Heading towards the check out, she realized that they should get some blueberries to put on it too, and headed back towards the produce. She was feeling...happy tonight. And somewhere in her mind was a part of her that couldn't believe she was spending so much just for a snack for one night. Something she didn't even need. So much had changed since she arrived here in Madison Valley, and she knew for a fact that she didn't ever want to go back to Panem.
