The nicest thing about winter, in Lissa's mind, was that it got dark so early. Sure, she could go out into the daytime without burning to ash, but it was still very uncomfortable. It hurt her eyes, and after a very short time would make her very sick. Not kill her, perhaps, but it still wasn't something she wanted to face on a daily basis. And in the winter, the early darkness meant that she could still go out comfortably at a time when stores and such were still open. And she liked that a lot.
Tonight, she was browsing various stores, looking through their Christmas sales. There were a lot of things, of course, that were very dated, clothes that she wouldn't be able to wear until next year. She passed all of those up. But stuck in among them were also little treasures, things that were overstocked, or that someone hadn't seen the value of during the Christmas season. Those were particularly what she was looking for.
Lissa was, perhaps, more than a little bit spoiled when it came to clothes. Growing up ridiculously rich, and now being Queen, she had a lovely wardrobe at home, and it had been a bit of a shock to arrive here and realize that she really had almost nothing left. If Rose had been here, they could have gone shopping together, and made a day of it. It would have been fun. She was finding, as she browsed, that shopping alone wasn't nearly as fun as shopping with her best friend. She wished she'd arrived here just a little bit earlier, when Rose was still here. Everything would have been just that much better for it.
She gasped as she found a red silk shirt in her size and pulled it off the sale rack. Not having Rose to ask, she turned to the nearest shopper and smiled.
"Excuse me...what do you think of this?"
As pale as she was, Lissa knew that she could wear red. It was one of her best colors.
