Unlike a good bit of Madison Valley, Luna wasn't bothered by the ghosts. Maybe that was just because nobody had really appeared to her yet, or maybe it was because she'd had experience with ghosts at Hogwarts. Or maybe it was just because she knew that ghosts couldn't hurt you. Or maybe it was because she wasn't afraid of death, having been forced to face it at so young of an age. Of course, none of these things really explained why Hermione was afraid, but Luna had always been different than everyone else, and she had no problem accepting the possibility that the ghosts just didn't bother her because she was strange.
That label had never offended her. She didn't really know why it should. Sure, people had picked on her and such for being different, but she'd always chosen to ignore it because she'd liked the person she was and was for the most part happy with her life. Sure, some things had hurt more than others, but she'd always been strong enough to get through them. And as she'd gotten older, she'd even made friends, even if she was pretty sure that they didn't always know exactly what to make of her and the strange things she said.
Luna liked being different, really. She liked thinking outside the box and not being like everyone else. Her world wasn't a typical place, inside her mind she was unique. And that was okay with her. More than okay with her.
She'd only been in Madison Valley for a short time, so instead of reading the network and watching everyone go mental over the ghosts, she decided to go for a walk. It was colder here in Indiana than it usually got in England, so she'd wrapped up tightly in a long blue coat, with earmuffs, a scarf and gloves. She could still feel the wind when it blew its hardest, but she'd be okay. She was always okay.
She hummed to herself a little as she walked, snippets of Christmas songs she remembered from her father. She did miss him, and wished she could tell him about this place. No doubt he'd be fascinated by it too.
