Stiles' gossip post had Isaac rolling his eyes even more than usual. Even though he lacked any sort of heightened senses, Stiles had a way of sniffing out information that was frankly disconcerting. Isaac was doggedly determined never to find his way onto Stiles' post of shame. That could be done either by being completely boring, or by threatening him with pain and maiming. The latter was much more Isaac's style.
He and Stiles had never gotten along well - something he attributed to their conflicting versions of Sarcasm. Under Stiles' there was kindness, sincere caring for other people. There was a quick mind and a lot of deep shit that Isaac had never really cared enough to get to the bottom of. Under Isaac's was a deep anger that he'd never been able to express any other way; an anger that had violent tendencies if pushed too hard. He'd had to swallow that anger under the subservience to his father that had never still kept the man from hitting him or locking him in the freezer. He could only imagine how much worse it would have been if he hadn't. Inside, Isaac was still angry so often; he was used to it, used to controlling it. He assumed that it was another reason he'd been able to find control so quickly as a werewolf.
There were a lot of times when Isaac really didn't like himself, which made it easy for him to understand why other people didn't like him. Chris and Allison being there for him, Scott and Jeremy...he didn't really understand why they liked him, and it scared him a little. A lot. He didn't want to turn away from it, but he lived every day waiting for the other shoe to drop.
But in the meantime, he might as well go shopping for Allison's Christmas present. That was why he was at Red Dog arms, someplace he pretty much only came to buy things for Allison, hoping that they had a pair of finger guards, since that was really the only thing she'd asked for.
