Even though Elena wasn't here, Kate was not going to miss the opportunity to celebrate two Thanksgivings. Besides, after all the recent drama, they needed something that would bring them together. Food was a great way to do that. She even managed to convince Jeremy that they should open their feast to all of their friends.

Clay was deep frying turkeys in the back yard and there was a table laden with several varieties of potatoes, stuffing, vegetables, and cranberry sauce. Dozens of pies were lining the window sills in the kitchen cooling off.

Anyone who showed up would not leave hungry.

	Kate was in a pretty good mood. She was looking forward to spending the day with her family and friends and eating her face off. Sure, there was a lot of work that went into feeding so many people, but it would be totally worth it. (Reply to this) (Thread)

Mercy had been genuinely surprised when Kate invited her. But she was happy too, that she'd reach out to her and invite her. She was also enjoying the fact clay had no idea that she was coming. She slipped into the backyard and set down the food and drink she'd brought, humming lightly. She had brought more pies, brownies and the like too. She was looking forward to surprising Clay.

Clay was so involved in deep frying the turkeys that he wasn't really aware of much else. oh, he was aware of people coming and going from the yard, into the house, back to the yard, but he wasn't really focused on that. The turkeys were keeping him busy.

But then there was a change in the air, a very familiar scent. He looked around, knowing it wasn't possible, but certain the scent was growing stronger. Jeremy had forbidden her to come to the Pack House, and no way she'd jeopardise his place in the pack by going against the Alpha's word.

Except...there she was. Clay stood where he was, frozen in place. This was bad, really bad.

Jeremy bore no ill will against Mercy. Yes, he'd asked that she keep her distance from the Pack house, from Pack land, but that was only to maintain a peaceful environment for the Pack. She'd been understanding and respectful in their meeting, had kept to her word since, and that was all Jeremy had wanted from her.

But since the loudest objector to her had specifically asked for permission to invite her, he had welcomed it. And perhaps would be willing to ease the restrictions he'd put in place.

"Mercy," he greeted, going over to her with a small but welcoming smile.

Reese had been a little unsure about coming to this after how much Clay still seemed to dislike him. But Kate had insisted, and you disappointed Kate very much at your own risk. Plus, the idea of deep-fried turkeys was incredibly appealing. He was a werewolf, after all, with the appetite that went along with that.

So he brought along some chips and a ridiculous amount of potato salad from the grocery store, and had put them on the table with the other food. He'd needed to contribute something, after all. And now he was standing on the outskirts of the picnic area, feeling awkward when he knew that he shouldn't be.

`Diana had been mingling and doing pretty much anything that wasn't cooking -- because that was basically all covered -- so it took her a good while to notice a face she'd never actually seen before. She was pretty sure she knew who it was, though, because stories. And because Pack drama. But she was polite and polite girls didn't bring up Pack drama.

They did, however, apparently go over and say, "Hi! I entirely don't know you. Who are you?"

This was what happened when you worked with Malia, apparently.

Avery had a diaper bag slung on his shoulder, and Cadence in her carrier. She was six months old exactly, and growing like a weed. She was getting so big, and he wanted to remember every moment with her.

He knew she was too little to remember being at the pack house, but he couldn't forget how the pack had helped keep them safe during the invasion of monsters and what not a couple months earlier. He couldn't say he felt like he belonged at the pack house, but he felt a great gratitude toward everyone there.

He was looking forward to the Thanksgiving celebration, and was touched that Kate had invited him. He stashed Cadence's bag in a corner and carried the baby to the back yard.

Not so much touched as mildly put out, Tom was in a very similar position, only there because Kate had invited him (insisted on it, really, and Tom did like her at least enough to accept an invitation), not because he felt like he was a part of these people in any way. He wasn't a werewolf like they were, but he trusted them.

So he was there, and he'd brought the baby. A good several months older than the other one about, but Tom wasn't fussed about that. It was good for the kids. That's what he told himself every time he did anything with Melinda.

Eve screeched something that was probably supposed to resemble the word baby as they approached, her little arms flailing happily. Eyeing her, Tom just gave a nod. "Hey."

Kira was friends with some of the Pack, so she figured she should make an appearance here. She'd been to other Pack gatherings in the past and always had a good time. There was no reason for her to think it wouldn't be more of the same. It certainly didn't hurt that there was an abundance of food.

She was also here because Scott lived here, and she wanted to make sure he was okay. She wondered if there would be awkwardness similar to when Stiles went home and returned the last time. She knew things were pretty back back home, though she didn't know exactly why. All she could do was be supportive, and she'd try her best to do so.

Of course Stiles was here. Scott was here, back like he knew he'd be, but he was also out here all the time even when Scott wasn't apparently between Nick and Kate. And there was food. A second Thanksgiving was an awesome idea as far as he was concerned. They always had the best food at the pack gatherings.

He wasn't going to bug Clay since he was grilling and honestly his quiet growly exterior kind of seemed like natures way of saying don't bug me. Kind of Like Derek's always had.

Stiles might not want to bother Clay, but that didn't mean Clay hadn't noticed the kid. And based on the not-quite looking at him looks thrown his way, he had the distinct feeling the boy was avoiding him. Which meant he was going to saunter over and plunk himself down next to Stiles.

"You smell human," Clay said. Coupled with a growl, he intended to come off as intimidating, but he was just messing with the kid. He wanted to get a reaction, make things interesting.

Malia frowned as she saw Kate sort-of-flash Stiles. Only sort of, of course, because her bra covered quite a bit more than Malia's cami did. But still, she frowned and crossed her arms, making her way over to him. As she got closer, though, her annoyance faded away at the smell of the embarrassment she smelled coming from Stiles.

"You know, most guys would have enjoyed that."

Malia loved these werewolf food parties. Because that was how she thought of them. It was one place where she could consistently get enough food and not have to worry about looking like a pig. And the pack was awesome and accepting about other we're showing up. So she wasn't about to miss it.

She saw Stiles talking to Clay and decided to leave him to that as she wandered around the tables with the food, trying to decide what she wanted to stake her claim on. As Stiles had suggested, she was wearing very little tonight. Just a very, very short pair of shorts and a pink cami that left very little to the imagination.

The practically naked girl wasn't that much of a shock, or even that unfamiliar a scent. Nick might not have met her before, but Stiles was all over her and she was always all over him whenever the kid was around. And Nick? Nick was interested. Everything he'd ever heard about her painted her as either a complete crazy person or exactly the kind of person he wanted to know.

It probably said something not very flattering about him that he got along so well with teenagers.

He fell in beside her, casting a glance in her direction. "Hey. Malia, right?"

It was going to be an interesting week with Canadian Thanksgiving at the pack house and again tomorrow at Rodney's. John was going to have to run a lot of extra miles this week to deal with the dual feasts but he didn't plan to miss either one.

For one thing he was glad to have the opportunity to meet all the pack in one place for the other he was extremely curious what Rodney and a party would be like with Rodney as the host.

Isaac would have been lying if he'd denied liking this. Their packs back home didn't have cookouts, and he'd never really enjoyed anything like this. Well...maybe before his brother had died, before his mother had died, before his father had become the monster he finally turned out to be. He had vague memories of that, but they were almost like hearing the story from someone else.

This...this was pack. This was family. And even though he couldn't help still being a little afraid of Kate, he was getting more and more comfortable with this.

And the food was great. And he was starving.

He walked a circle around the turkeys, as if trying to decide which one he was going to dive on first.

She appreciated the fact that even though she wasn't one of the werewolves they still let her be involved in everything. Kate was a good friend...she just wished she remembered the last time they were friends like Kate did...and she was glad she got to spend time with her.

Watching Isaac stalk the turkeys made her grin and she walked up behind him knowing he knew she was right there no matter how stealthy she might be so she didn't try.

"They can't run away, is it really a lot of sport to stalk them?"

He wasn't sure how well he fit in at the get together, but he wasn't going to pass up food -- or the chance to meet people, especially people who knew his son here, however tangentially.

Plus did he mention food?

He was off to the side at the moment, largely because this was a group of people he didn't know and so he was still putting together who was who and what connection everybody had to each other -- he knew who the people from his world were, of course, but that was about it.
