Everything had changed so quickly -- and it wasn't just his life he was thinking about. He was so glad that Yanli was in Madison and getting stronger every day. He and A-Ying had ideas on how to help her get stronger and help her find things that she could do in this new world that would make her happy. The fact that she had been brought to them at all was one miracle that he would never stop thanking the gods for. Then there was the fact that he and A-Huan were going to be getting married. That was something that he had never thought he would get to have. He had cared for him back home, but had never entertained the idea of them having anything more than friendship and respect between each other as sect leaders. However, here they were in love and had told each other of their feelings. (Ok, so the weirdness of the town had caused them to do that but he wasn't complaining.) What he was having a hard time wrapping his head around was that Madison Valley had... moved. It apparently had moved even further into the future than it was when he and his family had been brought to this town. Most of the town still looked the same, but there were new additions and, well, there were some things that were strange even for what he had become accustomed to. Shaking his head, he tapped gently on his sister's door. Life, in Madison Valley, was interesting. Being able to see her brothers was a nice thing. She loved being able to see just how happy they were. Her brothers deserved happiness. It didn't surprise her that both of them had found a Lan to complete their lives with either. She was also trying to find the perfect day for her brother to get married to Sect Leader Lan. Especially with how perfect the two of them were together. That, however, shouldn't be a hard thing to do. Their wedding would be perfect and she'd make sure of it. When Madison Valley moved it threw her off. Being in the future was... strange. They'd already been in the future and now they were further in it. Some things were the same and others... were different. Maybe it was time to see what was stranger and what wasn't. Hearing the tap on the door she gets up and answers it giving her brother a soft smile," A-Cheng." Jiang Cheng smiled at his sister and reached to hug her gently. “Hello, A-Li. How are you doing today?” He let go of her and did his usual thing of looking her over quickly to reassure himself that she was well and in one piece. It was something he had found himself doing to both his brother and his sister since they had all been brought here. His mind was never calmed until he reassured himself with that quick inspection. “I thought that we could have lunch together today and talk about things or just relax and enjoy the fact that we have new things to explore and enjoy.” Jiang Yanli gives a soft smile and hugs her baby brother back," Hello, A-Cheng." She was, in all honesty, doing pretty good. "I've been doing well. There's something I need to tell you and XianXian." After all, she'd found the perfect job. It wasn't something that she'd thought about but it was a way to work with children. A way to help those who were younger in the city. Once he lets her go she takes note that he looks her over. That? It was something that she'd gotten used to out of her brother. Him and Wei Wuxian both did it. They both tended to make sure that she was well and in one piece. She knows, unfortunately, that will probably never cease. "Why don't we get lunch and have a picnic? We can relax and enjoy the new places around us." It was a good thing that she was getting used to him checking her over because it was not something that he would probably ever stop. He had lost her back home and now was blessed to have her here. He knew that the Lans had been helping with her recovery, but he was not going to stop worrying about her. She was his sister. He did not plan to lose her ever again. He did the same thing to their brother, as well. Jiang Cheng had a lot of baggage where his siblings were concerned and he wasn’t sure that it would ever be something that he could let go of. “A picnic sounds grand,” he said with a smile. “Do you want to go to the park, down by the water or somewhere else?” He’d go almost anywhere she wanted to. The Lans, to her, were a great help when it came to them helping her recover. She'd actually recovered rather nicely due to Lan Xichen playing the xiao and Lan Wangji visiting to play his guqin. Lan music techniques were amazing even if she hadn't wanted them to use so much spiritual energy, not on her. It made her little brothers happy and that's all that mattered. Everyone was happy. "Let's go down by the water, A-Cheng." If they didn't have something they needed then they could grab it along the way. Jiang Cheng would never be able to thank the Lans enough for what they had done for Yanli -- and he knew that they would never accept his thanks. He had finally come around to the idea that maybe Lan Wangji didn’t always have a hidden ulterior motive to all of his actions. Maybe he was really the upstanding man that everyone believed he was. Maybe he was worthy of his brother, after all. He could no longer keep being angry for Lan Wangji standing beside A-Ying only after it was too late for hadn’t he also been too late? Hadn’t it taken him another lifetime to make amends to his brother? He shook his head inwardly. He would not dwell on those thoughts. Not today. He had A-Li and A-Ying here with him safely and he knew that Lan Wangji and his beloved A-Huan would help him keep them safe if he but asked. “A picnic by the water does sound perfect, A-Li,” he said with a genuine smile. "Then let us make a picnic basket and then we will head out." Jiang Yanli was happy to know that her brothers were getting along. That they were finally able to stand being in the same room together made her happy. Even more so when her little brothers were her whole entire world. She would make soup for them tomorrow and make sure that Lan Wangji got some too. In fact, she'd make sure they got some that were vegetarian too. "Let me know when you're ready, A-Cheng." While he got ready she'd get a basket ready with their food. It did not take Jiang Cheng very long to get ready -- although his mind was very curious about it was that A-Li wanted to tell them. He knew that it couldn’t be bad news because they had all made sure that nothing bad was allowed to come near their sister since she had been brought to Madison. He heard her preparing the basket and had to smile. She was always happiest when she was in the kitchen or helping someone and he had always loved that about her. She had a gentle and giving heart which is why he and A-Ying had gotten so angry at how the Peacock had treated her. No. He was not going to think of him. Not today. “I’m ready, A-Li,” he said coming to the kitchen and giving her a smile. No, the news that she planned to tell her baby brother while they were out was not bad news. Nor would she allow bad to be close to her. Not when she had her brothers teaching her how to protect herself. That? It was something that she enjoyed being taught. Even if A-Ying couldn't use a sword anymore. Once the basket is ready she heads out to her brother and gives him a soft smile," Then let's go. I can tell you about the Youth Shelter along the way." After all, it's a place she'd been told about and a place she now worked. A place where she could help the youths of the world around them. He smiled at his sister and took the basket in one hand and led her to the door. A-Ying and he had been very happy to teach their sister how to protect herself and learn sword forms. A-Ying could no longer use the sword, but he was still an excellent teach of Jiang sword forms. He opened the door and once they were through it, he took her hand and tucked it into the crook of his arm. “Yes, I want to hear all about it -- especially if it makes you this happy.” It was going to be a very good day, he could just feel it. |
